Забігаючи наперед, варто зазначити: якщо оцінювати гру у відриві від загального всесвіту, то про неї легко може скластися хибне негативне враження, а місцева історія - сумбурною або навiть наркоманською. Але попри це, у проєкті чітко видно величезний потенціал, а також те, наскільки глибоко розробники продумали та заклали лор з самого першого кроку. В центрі сюжету - співачка Наомі, яка мріє стати зіркою. Вона приїжджає на прослуховування в ізольоване японське село Кірісаме. Молодий чоловік головної героїні занепокоєний поганими чутками про продюсера, але вона готова на все заради шансу прославитися і запевняє хлопця, що все буде гаразд. Туманні вулиці знайомлять нас із місцевою легендою та дивною дівчиною Ерікою, яка прибула з тією ж метою. Місто і час поводяться неадекватно, події в грі різко стрибають, паралельно розкриваючи минуле Наомі - точніше, її непрості взаємини з матір'ю. Ok, so there are a couple of parts that are slightly eerie, but most of what you'll be doing is walking round in circles and occasionally collecting things. I played through twice in 2.5 hrs to get 100% completion, and 45 minutes of that playtime was me watching the Formula 1 and forgetting to turn the game off, so it's very short (which is probably a blessing). If you can pick it up at 95% off in a future sale it'll kill an hour or two I guess.

I really liked this game, it a great exploration of Japanese Folklore through a horror lens. It also had some great social commentary baked into the storyline that I think elevates it beyond just a simple horror game experience. It was a fairly short game, ~1 hour, but they did great work with that hour. The game felt polished , the visuals looked great and they had some pretty clever effects peppered through out that I thought were excellent. I would definitely recommend picking this game up to anyone that likes horror with multiple layers to it. I am excited to check out the rest of the games in the franchise. The most unbearable vacation to Japan of all time.

The game starts off nicely, it takes a break from the dark woods or sewers/tunnels or haunted house setting you usually see in cheap horror games. This one takes place in a small japanese town, and I would’ve like that if it wasn’t for the fact that all you do in this town is walk in a straight line until an event triggers. The only time it breaks away from walking in a straight line is when you enter buildings for a minute or two and a scene where the gameplay degenerates into Slenderman, where you gotta collect 8 pieces of a mirror while you are getting chased by a slow ghost/monster which screams like a Karen calling for a manager. After this scene, the gameplay returns back to walking in a straight line until something else happens. BTW, that collect pieces scene is low-poly, while the rest of the game has a realistic style. Game is voice-acted, the actors do an ok job… it is not the most horrible VA I heard, it is just passable at best. As for the story is simple, I can phrase it in one sentence: “you play as a singer trying to make it big but the manager which suppose to help her takes advantage of her and somehow this is related with something that happened in the history…
