"If you see something, shoot it; if it screams in German, shoot it again." Wow, what a game this is. I never expected a game from 2005 to be this cinematic and gripping, I was hooked from the main menu, the music puts you right into the shoes of the 101st Airbone. The campaign, being only 17 missions long, follows real missions from D-Day to the capture of Carentan. The combination of cutscenes, voice action and the animations, creates a deep sense of immersion, making you feel like you’re truly there with the squad. The gameplay is fun, though it hasn't aged perfectly, particularly the gunplay. However, once you get to grips on how to handle your squad effectively, you'll be able to breeze through the mission. If you can look past the dated AI and the less than stellar gunplay, then you have an absolute gem of a game. Well worth the price!

It's a solid game. It holds up even today. Though, it is rough around the edges. The series gets progressively better, but I still think the first game is solid. The story is what you'd expect, they don't quite nail it, but it's not bad. Voice acting and dialogue is good. Most of the missions are challenging. Though there's a simple rock, paper, scissors to it all, it does make you think. Successfully using your squads makes the missions a heck of a lot easier. As it's pretty tough to just run and gun with how the aiming mechanics work. They are similar to Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, or Hell Let Loose. For $4 on sale or $10 normal, it's worth the price. Took me about 15-20 hours to beat the game. Though I do think I restarted halfway through years ago. Game still runs perfect, no crashes, on Windows 11. So that's a pleasant surprise. And even a potato could run it well.

For anyone who missed good'ol WW2 FPS games, well this is it. Runs on Windows 11 fine, just open v-sync because in one mission AI gets stuck because of high frame rate. You do flanking and stuff, you command two fireteams generally and give them orders, flank and maneuver. Graphics are old, shooting feels janky. But it is a good dame with a lot of authenticity. I give 7/10.
