"Bugger Off!" is a rather mediocre but functional tower defense game that seems to have you using giant frogs and other things to protect against an invasion of giant bugs. I feel this is unrealistic. The game lacks polish and there's a few mechanics that either don't work properly or aren't fully explained, which can lead to some frustration. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones or Commodore 64s. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on S…3 found this helpful
An entertaining and fun backdrop for a fresh but mediocre take on the tower defense gameplay. Each of the three maps has a lot of detail drawn onto it while the path the bugs take is still very clear, which is quite nice. Additionally the bugs are simplified in a charming manner and silly frogs are an easy plus. While the music track itself doesn’t seem to change completely, it gets a different musical flavour matching the map you are on. It remains energetic and enjoyable all throughout. A major aspect of the gameplay is the frogs jumping around the map at random, which only one type of frog obtained in the last level does not do. While the towers’ moving around is an interesting concept, it is significantly brought down by the randomness of it and could be improved a lot if you could direct the frogs’ movement either by grabbing them to put them elsewhere or by placing down a lure of some kind to keep them stationary. Also once you figure out a working strategy it becomes repetitive, I have only really used the basic frog and maybe one frog of another type per map to test them out. The bugs too don’t have much variation in how they behave, usually only a small difference in speed…
In my opinion a REALLY fun game! I am sure the developers put a lot of love into this cute little game :) I really hope new updates are coming soon, like the new level Sydney. Thanks for making this game ♡⸜(˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)⸝♡
Not my cup of tea. A free game has to have some serious issues for me to give it a negative review, and this game earned one. Unlike a lot of games, where the issue is an incomplete or broken game, this seems to work, though I didn't even finish level one so it may be incomplete. No, the problem is that the frogs, which are the towers, move around! I suspect this was an attempt to be cute, but as they often moved to places where they couldn't attack the bug hoards, I had a lot of the foes just walk off the map. Very frustrating. Two thumbs down.
This game has potential, but i can't recommend it because the discipline stat seems to have no effect at all and there is absolutely no strategy in a tower defense game where your defenses move around randomly by themselves into areas where they can't even attack. Currently it is just random luck if the game will decide to let you win or not.
