I started out great but then you had to escape some weird shadow creature and i kept dying. No explanation on how to avoid it really made it annoying just dying over and over. It was interesting to me unlocking the mysteries of this persons life until that part. If i wanted to play a game avoiding enemies id play one of the the countless other games out there. It's not for me but it doesnt mean you wont like it. I unfortunately cannot recommend it though.

[h1]Terrible game but with a good story[/h1] In this horror game, I’ve spent more time frustrated than solving "puzzles". Literally, the game is just about chases because the puzzles are minimal. Honestly, the only thing I can say is that it’s terrible, although I do admit the story is well done. But with so many issues, I refuse to leave a positive review. What really annoyed me about the game are three things: the chases, the bugs, and the achievements. The chases are awful. I got frustrated multiple times because I’d interact with something and the character would go to the other corner or just ignore my action. The bugs, I only had three, but yes, they happened during chases too, where the 'monster' just stood there waiting after I hid in a closet. And finally, the achievements. If you want to play this game to 100% complete it, forget about it, the achievements are bugged. [b]I dont recommend this game at all. It’s not worth experiencing the story with such bad gameplay.[/b]

"Buried Shards" is yet another of literally thousands of Unity asset flips on Steam, this one another tired first person horror/jumpscare "adventure" where apparently you sleepwalk, which makes sense because this game could have been slapped together from Unity assets even while sleeping. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves…

So, I didn't get very far. I have a double-wide monitor and the game is not optimized for this. There are literally no settings to change how the game looks, I've never seen that for a modern game before. So, a bunch of the game simply wouldn't show up on my screen. Apparently, you have to do an entire chapter (admittedly I don't know how long each one is) because there is no save function in the game at all. So you have to play a chapter and then stop playing, then start your next game session at the next chapter, which is ridiculous. I know the game is free to play on Steam, but not having basic functionality for a modern PC game and also no controller support, this game seems quite rudimentary by normal standards.
