Players appreciate the game's immersive Dead Space-like atmosphere, survival horror concept, and decent environmental storytelling through terminals and logs, though some find the narrative pacing breaks flow. However, the Steam version is criticized for being a direct Quest port with persistent bugs including game-breaking errors, weapon physics issues, and missing audio cues, combined with low-poly visuals that undermine the horror atmosphere despite the small team's effort.
Experienced on the HP Reverb G2 using the Oasis Driver for Windows Mixed Reality and on the Meta Quest 3
I really wanted to like this game. I actually bought the Meta Quest 3 version and I was hoping this Steam version would be the ultimate version that is bug-free (error free) and with better visuals and lighting. Instead, we got this which seems like a straight port of the Meta Quest version, with all the same bugs (errors) and nearly identical visuals (improved resolution and frame rate are all I noticed). That's a shame because there is actually a pretty good game underneath it all. However, I knew I was in trouble when I experienced a game-breaking error in the tutorial. I had to quit and try the tutorial a second time (continue), luckily it did work on the second try with only having to repeat a small part of the tutorial. Then I came across not being able to get the grenades / reloads from my belt at all as it would change sides. Then I came across another bug where the grenades would go in weird directions after being thrown. Then I came across the same bug I had encountered in the Meta Quest version (audio log not playing at all). The game is challenging on nor…9 found this helpful
Aside from having to deal with grip threshold issues and the turn speed being a little slow even at max. I feel like this game has a lot to offer for this price. Would I say its going to blow expectations away? No. But it genuinely is a pretty immersive title faithful to something like Dead Space. Achievements are sweet too! I quite like this game. By Grit Alone is a Horror Shooter game where you play a a destitute space man going from ship to ship is search of somewhere safe, along the way fishing a horde of an alien infestion. the game has a lot of stories on each ship there a terminals, note, holograms and tapes of character speaking and discovering what happened to each derilect ship. its honestly really good, I would say there is a bit too much at times some rooms have so many terminals and logs that you just have to stop and sit down to listen to them all they kind of break the flow at times. The graphics are low poly, probably because its a quest game and a very small development team (primarily made by one guy based on the credits?) but I think it works for the kind of game aestetic its going for. the only bad element really is the UI the basic box buttons are a little too basic too me they could be fleshed out to look a little more immersive imo. over all the game isnt too long on normal it took me 2.5 hours to get to the end, but I play fast so probably 3-4 hours if you are a little slower.1 found this helpful

They did a really good job.
Works on Reverb G2. Disclaimer: I've received this game for free via Curator Connect. By Grit Alone is a VR horror/FPS that is terrible in both of these genres. Combat encounters are annoying and buggy, while atmosphere is not scary due to horrible visuals. First of all, the bugs: every issue mentioned in FastLawyer's review is still present 4 month later. No sound playing from melee enemies behind your back is the worst of them all - makes crew quarter level compeletely unplayable. And it is a terribly designed combat encounter even without a bug: a small maze filled with traps that stop you from strafing, and it is swarmed with infinitely respawning enemies from all sides. Every time you take damage huge red vignette is applied to the screen severely limiting already low visibility of dark areas. And now add to that half of the enemies who spawn behind you, move faster than you and are completely silent, until they start gnawing at your legs. The result is an absolute abomination, that should not have passed any playtesting. I stopped playing right there after several quick unpreventable deaths. Visuals are awfull even by Quest standards. The game can not maintain any sense o…
