Cards and Castles 2 takes the basic appeal of a collectible card game and gives it a clever tactical twist by turning summoned cards into actual units on a battlefield. Instead of simply placing creatures into fixed slots and watching statistics collide, players have to consider movement, positioning, blocking, attack opportunities, and the overall shape of the board. Developed and published by Red Team Games, the result is a free-to-play strategy experience that feels immediately recognizable to card-game fans while introducing enough spatial decision-making to establish an identity of its own. The tactical board is easily the strongest part of the design. Cards spring to life as animated characters that can move around the battlefield, meaning a powerful unit is only as useful as the position in which it is deployed. Protecting vulnerable pieces, blocking enemy movement, creating favorable attack opportunities, and deciding when to advance all become important considerations. Cards and Castles 2 is a tactical card game that I think does a good job of mixing normal deck building with an actual battlefield. I am not just playing cards and watching numbers change. The cards I put down become units that I can move around the board, block attacks and use to control space. That makes each turn feel a little more important because I have to think about where I place something as well as what card I want to play. The cartoon style and silly characters also keep the whole thing feeling light rather than overly serious. The faction system gives me plenty of room to experiment. I can build a deck around two factions plus neutral cards, with options including Vikings, Crusaders, Warlocks, Pirates, Ninjas, Druids and Undead. Each one has a different style, so I can build around aggressive attacks, magic, healing, board control or other strategies. I like being able to combine two factions because it gives me more freedom than simply picking one class and sticking with it. Building a deck that actually works together is probably the part I spend the most time thinking about. The combat is where the game really stands out for me. Units can move around the grid and b…
