I have never been so impressed and disappointed at the same time.... Anastasia (sorry, love that name). Not because the game was bad, actually, the first 3-4 hours I thought it was the most brilliant top-down horror game I ever played, unapologetic with edgy content, fun characters, original art, hilarious references, and so playful with so much location variety, and then everything went to ____ when you decided that 70% of the game needed a plain combat mechanic on top of great game you already had. BTW, did Valve held your game hostage for content checking? Somehow I am not surprised ;), I wonder if they found everything though. Is it safe to assume the game was somewhat Undertale inspired, or just maybe that Mother mentality in general, not so much in terms of story, obviously the world-building in this game is very different and much darker, but I mean just that meta narrative, player expectations, and things of that nature, with the game being very player focused and highly interactive. For me personally, there were some parts of the game in the first two chapters where I thought it was more clever than Undertale, and I don't mean it in condescending way, honestly I think you…20 found this helpful
Absolute Hidden Gem. 3 reviews? Are you kidding?? This is REALLY good. This developer clearly has HUGE talent in dialogue and world building, it shows immensely throughout the experience. Hoping this game gets the recognition it deserves!6 found this helpful
Amazing game, if you like the genre even a little this is a must play. The first part is perfection: great atmosphere (between psychological horror, very gory and disturbing horror and surreal horror), engaging exploration and puzzles, clever and funny writing (mainly thanks to the cynic and foulmouthed little girl protagonist), really good pixel art and animation. I was 100% into it in the first hours, but then the game changed into a twin stick shooter. I'm not a fan of the genre and I'm not really good at it either, so I can't really tell if it's good or not compared to other games (personally I found it kinda stiff and many sections very punishing/frustrating but it may be a skill issue since it's not what I normally play). Despite this not ideal (at least for me) genre switch, I still found the game as a whole to be extremely well done, with a lot of personality and several great details, made with a lot of care and effort by a single developer.3 found this helpful
I really enjoyed the horror and atmosphere of the first two and final chapters, but chapter 3 is kind of a big blemish imo. maybe not enough to ruin the game but the entire time i constantly begged for the game to wrap up because everything i loved about the first half just didn't exist, at least in the same capacity. there's still plenty to love about this game and i do recommend it if you're in the mood since it's not very long but this is a game that feels a little too long in the tooth and it suffers for it, especially when the ending (or at least the one I got, not sure if multiple exist) felt like it rushed to the finish line before cutting to credits so there wasn't any satisfaction but like i said maybe that's just me since i actually really enjoyed the final monologue before it wrapped. I don't do Steam reviews so maybe this reads as incredibly ramble-y but tl;dr 8/10 horror game that could have used some fat trimming.1 found this helpful
