Little Smiles Daycare is a very short horror game that takes place inside an abandoned daycare, and I think the setting does a lot of the work for it. I am exploring the building as a lone investigator, looking through the empty rooms for clues, notes, memories and other strange things that can help me understand what happened. The idea of taking somewhere that should feel safe and cheerful and turning it into a quiet horror setting works well, especially with the childish surroundings being left completely empty. The exploration is simple, but I like the way the game encourages me to actually look around instead of just following a straight path. There are environmental puzzles, hidden clues and different things to investigate, so I have to pay attention to what is around me. The game also has multiple outcomes, which gives me a reason to look more carefully and try different choices. It is not a complicated puzzle game, but the investigation fits the short format pretty well. The voice acting is probably the part that stands out most for me. The game has fully voiced cutscenes, including the characters Ms. Harper and Mr. Smiles, and having an actual voice attached to the myster…

2 minutes in, attempted fourth wall break, got locked behind unlistenable loud dialogue I didnt care about, you cant see anything, no gameplay

The game started off strange as wasd movement keys didn't work but after realizing the arrow keys worked I was able to begin in the game. Right before finding the broom I read a note that read about chasing little kids so maybe mr smiles had some connections to jeffery epstein. I wouldn't really be surprised in all honesty. After 10 minutes in into my 8th try i was able to get past the multiple mr smileys and then my movement stopped working and started moving on its own. After that experience I was mortified and immediately closed the game. Fun experience however I shall warn against playing.

I really don't want to be mean. But this game was bad, the dialogue have some typos, the game wasn't really scary, and the game just feel bland. I will say this, making a game under 9 days is impressive for a game jam. And I do wish the creator best of luck to make more better games in the future. But this game was just not good.
