About Chasing the Stars

After building some satellite cities as a test, the Earth is finally terraforming its first colony, the planet Alaya.

Tirs Abril has always dreamt of going to space, and now he's determined to take part in the colonization. Following his dream, he's currently studying the last year of Environmental Engineering in college.

After breaking up with his boyfriend, he finally finds his sought-after chance: working as a scholarship researcher with Professor Marc Rossell, a prominent figure in the field of Environmental Engineering, and right now in charge of building the dome that will cover the inhabitable part of Alaya. However, Tirs soon will find out things are more complicated than he thought and his path won't be precisely a rose garden.

You game... YOU........... How can you read any other routes after POL's?! I am SO GLAD I did his route last! ARGH! Hell... Seriously, Pol's route is the saddest one! So if you are thinking of going for him first... Then others? Ugh... I hope you can do it... Or have enough "I don't really care" in you to overcome it. Sigh. I see that this game wasn't really seen in a positive light... But I was curious... There are men and lewd scenes... How can you go wrong? OKAY! You can go wrong... However... I... I liked the game. I did. There was something about it... (AND NOT JUST THE SEX SCENES!) I wanted to keep reading... To see what happens. It wasn't one of those "holy hell! I can't put this down!", but it was... I don't know... Interesting for sure. I am already a perv, (who isn't? Don't answer that!) so I of course wont tell you how greatly detailed and awesome the lewd scenes were. Now I am curious about the other games that these Developers made... Hmm Hmm... Oh I guess the most disliked part (by other people) is when you actually have to sleep with Marc to get good ends. I didn't care... I thought the reason was fine enough and it gave us two le…

Cute enough BL novel. Length is good, the story is somewhat refreshing and overall good. The characters are decently well written and the facial art is cute. The body art and CG art is underwhelming and frankly somewhat bad. The music is bland apart from the OP/ED which is to be expected. Play it for the story rather than the art.

On this episode of "going through my library and reviewing games", we have Chasing the Stars. I hate to say it, but I really can't recommend this game. The aesthetics, characters, and general idea of it were interesting, but I can't endorse locking a good ending behind a pressured sexual encounter with a certain character. I understand that the devs were trying to make a point about manipulation, but was that really the only way to do it? I tried to unlock all endings and do all routes, but after that, I felt... different about the game. Playing it fatigued me. Other than that, the story (especially the end) did feel a little rushed and unsatisfying. I could tell what it was going for, but it just didn't quite get there for me. The worldbuilding and characters were interesting enough, but not enough for a replay to get different outcomes. Please, for anyone reading this, don't lock good endings behind bad triggers.

I'm a bit mixed about this one, but generally I would recommend it, especially if you want more position choice and like stories about messy characters who face the consequences of their arrogance, systemically enabled abuse, along with some fluff, and some decentish CGs. The opening section is not going to be everyone's cup of tea, especially folks obsessed with "one true love" stories, where a lead is only ever with one person, but I think that's fine because those folks have so much else to read, and that's not the sole way romance is meant to be written. Polyamory exists, open marriages exist, folks experiment, folks have multiple relationships in their lives, and this VN has
two threesomes
. That's not the case in plenty of other VNs you can try if it really bothers you. As others have noted, you have to engage in one character's romance if you want to romance either of the other two. Even outside OTL obsessives, folks who just dislike that character will be understandably irritated. That being said, having to go through certain character relationships in and out of VNs is not unusual: if I recall correctly, there is an unskippable scene for one love interes…

Well, I am an avid reader of BL mangas and player of yaoi visual novels and this is 9 over 10. Maybe, I am a bit influenced by the retrofuturistic and noir aspects of the narrative, but AT LAST, we have a game where you can choose things clearly and not everything is good or bad. The influence of Dysney's Treasure Planet is more than obvious here. So, probably is a bit of a millenial game :) Besides that, the artistic part is probably its major flaw; if they would have get more CGs and better and more expressive characters, this game would be a 10. Aaand I cannot ignore the fact that the game is based in Catalunya, more exactly in Barcelona. Not many games are based in my surroundings, so that shocked me.
