About Chionophile
✦ AI summary
Walk slowly through snowy wilderness while absorbing a beautiful poem and original score that capture winter's contemplative mood. This atmospheric walking simulator emphasizes immersive exploration over gameplay, letting you wander freely through two chapters of pristine, isolated nature.
Chionophile is a very short experience about the mood of winter in the woods. It is a slow paced pure walking simulator; you only walk, slowly, in the wilderness away from civilization. A beautiful poem from Archibald Lampman accompanies your short journey; and the original music score that is composed by Pınar Karabaş.
The game has 2 chapters. While the first one is a little linear, the second one (which is more expansive) takes place in a large open area. There are paths for the player to follow to reduce confusion about where to go. But you are free to roam away from the path and discover.
PS: The core aspect of this game is the atmosphere. It is recommended for those who mostly seek to experience the mood.
Save progression: The game saves your progression at the beginning of each chapter.

An ok game for 30-40 minutes. The graphics aren't exaclty great about this game. Your walking through snow and winter trees. Its basically a collectathin or fetch game walking sim. Find the ross flower and bring it back to the pedestal to read the poem, wash rinse and repeat. You can use right click to reveal the locations of the flower and the pedestals which is a nice touch but keep in mind you can't take the flower to any pedestal it has to be the right one, which I discocvered during my gameplay. The walk/run speed is an acceptable pace. I don't know why I ran faster in some areas and slower in others? felt off? This walking sim doesnt take long. There are extra poems written in the snow or water for you to see (Question Mark marker) but they are not needed to 100% the game. Just do the flowers and pedestals and you should 100% t he game easy. Copared to the developer's other games I was expeting voiceover but in this one there is no voiceover, just silent poems. An ok game but I have played better games by this developer. If you do get this, get it when it's on discunt. I couldn't see myself playing this again unless I play it again in a few more years for a relaxing game…2 found this helpful
Chionophile, developed and published by Tonguç Bodur, is a quiet, contemplative experience that fully embraces minimalism as both its strength and its defining limitation. Rather than presenting players with complex mechanics or layered storytelling, it invites them into a subdued, almost meditative journey through a snow-covered wilderness. From the moment it begins, the game establishes its intent clearly—it is less about interaction in the traditional sense and more about mood, atmosphere, and the subtle emotional impressions that arise from simply existing within its world. This makes it feel closer to an interactive art piece than a conventional video game, something meant to be experienced rather than mastered. The structure is intentionally sparse, placing the player in a first-person perspective with little direction beyond moving forward and exploring the environment. The world itself is a quiet winter forest, where muted colors and soft lighting create a sense of calm isolation. Snow blankets the ground, trees stand bare against pale skies, and the overall visual tone leans toward simplicity rather than realism. Movement is unhurried, encouraging players to take their ti…1 found this helpful
Absolutely Stunning Game 5*
Got to be one of my favourites of their walking sims as winter is my favourite season. The setting gives Narnia vibes in the best way possible. Sort of medieval/historic winter. Will absolutely be playing this again in December. Took me an hour but you could have done it quicker, I dismissed the task in the second chapter for a bit as I wanted to explore. Also then appreciated the walking speed increase in chapter 2 as following the paths once I'd seen it all would have been a bit tedious haha! So was very nice that it didn't feel like a drag. The ending was honestly stunning, wish I'd managed to record it!
Another game purchased and finally played. Personally didn't mind the long second chapter. Felt good to be lost in the game and uncovering paths through the snow. Some flowers seemed unreachable but finally revealed. Another classic.
The good: peaceful and relaxing. Easy 100%. Nice OST The meh: while pretty the graphics aren’t great the water doesn’t move when you walk in it no footprints in the snow. There are free games out there that are better. I got it on sale but I won’t play again. Cool to see passion projects and Indy devs trying different things but I feel like this game could’ve had so much more. Walking sim takes less than an hour for 100%. Nice soundtrack. Pretty enough. Could’ve been more.
