Chrono Crystal

"Chrono Crystal" is not a complete game, it's an advert/demo, and you have to buy the full game through DLC. What is this advertisement all about? Well it's Kingdom Rush from Temu... it resembles Kingdom Rush visually, but the TD aspects of the game are a shallow, unpolished, clunky yet simplistic mess. And while this doesn't seem to have been published on the mobile app stores, it's a mobile app at heart... an immediate disqualifier. The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to shell out $4 USD on buying the DLC, and I don't recommend you do that. As an advertisement, this is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. The game looks similar to a flash game. It has some glitches here and there and the Hellish hard level crowns are difficult to get (requirements unclear). The levels became impossible to win and I am stuck. It started well and fun but then game play is stalling. Possibly getting the DLC characters can give it a boost. Mixed feelings overall about this game.

This is going to be a weird review, because honestly I didn't enjoy this very much, but it's free, and it all works which makes it better than a lot of games that expect you to pay for them. For me, the maps are way too cramped, and not very fun, and I am told I have won out of no where, no clue why, still monsters on the map. It all comes at me way too fast, I like time to plan my set up, and explore the map, these maps are small and the monsters just start right away. And the super power of my hero, which kills everything, seems to recharge really quickly, which feels strange. So it's a meh, for me.

There's some joy to be had here, but there's enough frustrations to move this into a 'no'. First, the grind to upgrade towers and heroes moves from 'irksome' to 'actively painful' pretty fast. Second, if you try a mission and fail you get zero resources as a reward, not a reduced amount, and some of these missions can have you doing really well right up until the last minute - of a LONG mission - only to hit you with an impossible wave you weren't prepared for and drop you to zero, which would be one thing if you got a consolation prize but as it is you can get completely hosed and no reward for it and that just discourages you from trying harder modes until you've ground a LOT of resources up the slow way. And third, there's a cash shop to speed up the grind. I cannot stress enough how much the presence of a cash shop in a game like this is an irritation. The grind feels like it's only there to incentivize the cash shop, and the cash shop feels like it's only there to have a reason for the grind. Yes, yes, I realize it's a free-to-play game, albeit with paid DLC, so maybe this shouldn't be that much of a gripe, but the way it's done here just...grates on me. There is joy …

Great game a bit hard to understand how it works from the start and how to counter some enemy. Yes you dont have to buy the dlc to complete the game really low that too. Not sure if this game its 100% legit bc its using some copy right sounds, mostly from world of warcraft.
