About Cold Waters
Command a nuclear submarine through realistic Cold War naval combat, making split-second tactical decisions on whether to strike silently or risk detection with long-range firepower. Intercept convoys and enemy task forces using period-authentic weapons and sonar while managing the constant threat of enemy subs and aircraft in a dynamic campaign where every decision impacts the outcome.
Inspired by the 1988 classic “Red Storm Rising”, command a nuclear submarine in a desperate attempt to prevent “mutually assured destruction” when the Cold War gets hot and WWIII begins.
You will be tasked with intercepting convoys, amphibious landings, insertion missions and battling it out with enemy warships, submarines and aircraft. Thankfully, an arsenal of wire-guided torpedoes, anti-ship and cruise missiles and the occasional SEAL team are on board to keep the Iron Curtain at bay.
Major Features:
- Real-time naval combat
- Over 40 classes of ships and submarines all meticulously researched
- Dynamic Campaign where your performance matters
- Realistic sonar model
- Authentic Soviet combat tactics

very good 👍 (how do i kill a submarine using a torpedo?)
top game
Excellent approach to gameplay (split between sim and arcade) and dynamics of submarine warfare. One occasional bug will happen when tankers and tenders get frozen behind enemy lines and do not advance to their expected AO (seen when the friendly satellite passes over it). Otherwise, I have greatly enjoyed all of the features it has offered for each simulated theater of operation, especially the added submarines and expanded theaters (though some theaters could use improvement).
I expected to like this game, and it definitely has potential, but for me it is let down by a few small but critical issues. The game as a whole feels unpolished, and the campaign in particular seems poorly designed and poorly balanced. In the campaign in particular, the player is not given enough information to make informed tactical decisions. The difficulty is also very inconsistent, due to random variation in environmental conditions and enemy units and positioning. Sometimes, you'll be facing one obsolete destroyer, with plenty of depth and a strong thermal layer. Sometimes, you'll be plonked right in the middle of three modern ASW vessels with no layer and the sea floor at like 200ft. Features I would have liked to see: -A clearer indication of the time remaining and location for missions in the campaign. -Some indication of enemy group size or lethality on the campaign map. -Custom difficulty settings. -The ability to save during missions. -Some indication in combat of whether the mission objective has been completed, or progress to completion. -Some indication that you have completed the single missions when you have, and how well you did. -More than one time dilation sett…
