Colossal Cave is a classic, cozy VR Adventure; slow down, explore a massive magical, labyrinthine cave system, all while solving clever, sprawling puzzles at your own pace. Auto-magic maps, limited inventory, all the fantastic creatures and a deep mystery at the heart of the experience. You may hear its heart beating while approaching the volcano. First-person POV VR with classic point-&-click controls: walk, look, interact, pick things up, and test your theories. Limited inventory requires clever management in its own right. A magical series of maps quietly track where you’ve been, marking where you’ve dropped items. Simply focus on solving puzzles instead of wrestling with navigation.This is not a frantic action game; no frenetic timers shouting at you, no combo meters to maintain—just you, your lamp, and a series of intertwined, sprawling, twisty corridors full of brainy, logic-driven challenges.

When I was about 10yrs old I got an IBM PC. One of the first games I played on it was Kings Quest III. Playing that game made me feel like entered into another world. For this reason, I made sure to buy every game Roberta Williams was associated with. To say the least, my IBM gaming days were a magical time in my life. In wanting to share this experience with my kids I got the VR version of this game. Let’s just say that they have not got a chance to play yet. My rig: Valve Index, RTX 3090, i9 10900K (10cores/20threads, 5.3Ghz), 32GB 3200Mhz, Win10 Pro. Very strange to see no user reviews for this game - this is PCVR with full locomotion, snap/smooth turning - or teleport. It reminds me of a classic adventure game for my Commodore 64 or Amiga 500 - but now in full VR. I'm running the game using Index res 400% (36 mill pixels per frame combining both eyes) and I usually get 80 fps in 80 Hz - and motion smoothing kicks in a few places - maybe res 350% would be better, but I like the antialiasing effects of extreme res. Being able to use extreme res also means that you do not need a fast rig for this game. There are no settings for graphics, but there are dynamic shadows, high-res-ish textures, fog effects - and the game looks quite nice, sometimes even great. There is a problem - the game crashes when I press the Steam menu button on the Index controllers - but if I do not do that, the game works flawlessly. So far the action has been very modest, some may find that the gigantic cave may be a nice place to reduce stress - and there's truly much to explore. I never played the original, but this is better than I expected. If you like exploration, you'll be into it. Don't expect action though. You click on items in your backpack and use them by clicking them on enemies or other objects. A narrator voice will let you know if it works. There are multiple locomotion settings, and you can move very fast, but the smooth turn speed is pretty slow. Alternatively, you can do snap turn or physical turn. I LOVE THIS GAME. I'm from the old school and I'm a fan of point and click adventures and Sierra games and of course King's Quest saga being King's Quest V one of my favourites. ;) This game breathe nostalgia: The voice of the narrator is like King's quest voice (well done), the icons with the eye, hand and the inventory and options looks like a point and click adventure but in VR. What can I say. It's very immersive to be in VR!!! I can look the mountains in the distance before enter the cave and I can imagine that far away is the realm of Daventry. haha. Even it's a little scary for the immersion. The sound atmosphere is very well done and the graphics are well done to me. I whish it will be a Gabriel Knight or Kinq's Quest in VR too with this kind of idea and talking to characters. It will be a point and click adventure game but 2.0 in VR Thank you so much Roberta Williams and your husband for your passion in video games and to bring this beautiful game in VR. Good VR implementation (controls etc), clever puzzles, but it really is a labyrinth and hard to navigate in VR, even with the help of the map. Can it really be completed without help? Not by me...1 found this helpful
Needs one hand control options for disabled gamers.
