Community College Hero: Knowledge is Power

*I played this on the Hosted Games omnibus app* A couple months ago, I played Eric Moser's Community College Hero and reviewed it in glowing terms. This week, I finally got a chance to play the sequel, Community College Hero: Knowledge Is Power, and it lived up to all my happy expectations. Back for their spring semester, the young heroes of Speck Community College face challenges both old and new. Professor McCormick's class on hero law is as soporific as ever, increased security measures off-campus put a damper on students' social lives, and the death of a universally beloved classmate at the end of the fall semester weighs heavily on everyone's mind. The promised return of an old enemy in May looms even more chillingly than final exams. Meanwhile, a new villain has turned up in Speck with a jet pack, a taunting manner, and a sinister plan. As the only student in the hero-studies program without superpowers, you're determined to hold your own and prove your worth, and you have a plan that promises to change the course of your hero career forever. It took me 6 hours to finish and I give it a 6/10. It was ok because the cast of characters was interesting, I like superhero settings and I enjoyed the minor rpg progression of improving my stats. The level of improvement seemed fairly minor but there are choices that look like they relate directly to your stats. I'm going to play the 3rd installment if it's on sale and I happen to see it. If that doesn't happen I'm not really going to miss it. The reason is it wasn't very fun or satisfying. First, the goal I chose for my character development early on kept getting kicked out of reach and I never attained it. It wasn't integral to the story though. I succeeded in being a hero but not in any way I planned and only through constant setbacks, loss and hardship. You really start the game as a bottom feeder and you are pitted against seemingly impossible odds. Somehow you muddle through but even by the end your progress brings you nowhere near the level of your enemies. You look back on what you achieved and you definitely played your part but can you actually take credit for what happened? Not if you're being honest. The story made me feel like a pawn and sometimes there are power…

Bem divertido. Embora não tenha como evitar o final do jogo, sem falar spoilers, você tem uma diversidade bem grande de escolhas no jogo. Não é infinito, obviamente, mas eu senti que consegui jogar de diferentes maneiras o jogo. Com quem você termina (tem varias waifus, bros), os equipamentos, relacionamentos, etc. Completei várias vezes o primeiro e apenas uma vez o segundo (vou jogar mais vezes). Recomendo. Fun. É isso.
