An excellent RTS that deserves way more attention, but still leaves you wishing for a bit more depth. As a long-time strategy fan, I’d give it a solid 8/10. The Good: + Campaigns are incredible! Total praise here. They offer genuine choices and challenges with different outcomes, something most RTS games (even AoE2 just recently) lack. It really lets you step into history and alter the timeline somewhat. + Multiplayer is surprisingly still somewhat active. + Great value for the money, especially on sale. The Critiques (Where it needs a rework): - Lack of Unit Uniqueness: Visually, the civs look different, but they play very similarly. Or infantry wise Azeb. Yaya and Musellem. - Stale Mechanics: Cavalry lacks a proper "charge" or sprint ability. They just gallop at a fixed pace (aside from the Sich Cossacks' fun whacking animation). - Rigid Formations: You can only group infantry into regiments at strict, high unit marks using officers/drummers.
