"Cute Monsters Battle Arena" is a crappy low effort mobile app that's been dumped on Steam, and if you think this is some promising Pokemon ripoff, you'll be sorely disappointed. This is a very poor quality Bejewelled/Candy Crush ripoff instead, that failed dismally on both iPhones and here on PC where it was lazily ported. What do you do in the game? Match-3 blobs. The end. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $10 USD for this. Yeah, TEN BUCKS for a crappy mobile app. I guess they had to make back the money they paid to the Russian review farm for fake reviews somehow. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. I'm kind of happy I showed up late to this party. This now free game features monster battles based on match 3. Depending on what element you match and how many those monsters attack. You also use this to heal during battle and what frustrated me is that this is Pokemon without the special attacks like thundershock. Here the attacks change things into coins? You can also do your best to try and build a balanced team, only to end up with three water or fire types that can one hit kill every opponent including bosses anyways. You can combine poke- er, monsters to make them stronger, but the result stays the same monster. You don't seem to get a monster dex or anything, but for free it's OK. Just don't expect what you see in the trailer.
