About Daily Thread: The Sewing of Discontent
The textile industry is still one of the most exploitative industries in the world.
That is why we created this artistic view of working conditions in the 19th century Manchester in the wake of the first general strike. Play as Henrietta, a seamstress trying to juggle a 14-hour work day while taking care of her family and also engaging in the worker's movement.
The game alternates between two modes: During working hours you try to reach your quota, and at home you use your limited income to try and keep your family alive and well. Can you also find the time to involve your self in the socio-political problems of the era?
Half of all revenue from the game will be donated to Labour Behind the Label, a UK-based non-profit co-operative organisation which campaigns for workers' rights in the clothing industry.

OK I guess I'm the odd one out here, but I had a VERY difficult time with this game to where I threw in the towel when I only made it through two days. I have no idea how they make the sewing look so easy in the trailer. I found it very difficult to tell exactly where I was and this caused me to keep ripping the fabric. Also, once you hold down the spacebar to sew, you're off like a rocket, so when I ripped the fabric I ripped it quite a bit before I could react. Rotating the fabric is also a bit difficult in that the game is very sensitive with it, if you move your mouse just a tiny bit, you're already spinning it around like a top. I started going slower on the garments to not rip the fabric, but then I would only get one piece done on my first day, because after the first rectangle, you're thrown a skirt, which is even worse when I already struggled not to mess up the rectangle. After my first attempt (of an entire day), if I ripped the garment, I stopped lining things up carefully and just went to town on it because I was going to get docked for it anyways. Then, I started the second day and got a super complicated coat, took a deep breath, GENUINELY tried my best, and couldn…3 found this helpful
One of my friends got this for me because a) I'm from Manchester, b) I love sewing, and c) I spent a lot of time going around mills as a kid, so I'm basically the target audience! In this game, there are two modes: you play a seamstress trying to hit the impossible demands of her daily quota, and a resource management mode where you try to feed and house a family of eight on as little as 18 pence a day. I enjoyed it a lot! The sewing part can be very frustrating as you get more complicated garments in the same timeframe, but I'm taking that as commentary on the unreasonable demands on garment makers. You can sew six blankets in a day? Then surely you can do the same amount of FANCY COATS in that time! ... Yes the coats were my nemeses, yes I'm still mad about it. The tone is humourous while still highlighting the stupidity of the exploitation of workers, so it's not too dark! Which is good seeing as the resource management of this game has you doing the same calculations as "This War of Mine" on a smaller scale; which of my family members can I afford to let starve today so that we have enough resources to live tomorrow? I will say that there are quite a few typos ("sawing machi…2 found this helpful

Excellent small game, It is simple but well executed (though it is sometimes a bit hard to find out why the cloth is still not 100% finished) and just hard enough. The immersive setting put us directly into the struggles of a woman holding her family while being a worker during the industrial revolution (struggles that still resonate today). Outside of the intelligent depiction and criticism of the period, the gameplay is mostly the sewing of clothes which is absorbing and kinda fun.1 found this helpful
>you can't thrive in this game no matter how much money you have..
It's a nice concept but the game ended after 20 minutes with 0 difficulty to reach final day with all achievements
