About DENIAL
Look inside, your dark mind is fighting against your soul, your conscience can't pick a side and fear is standing against logic.
What if after too much pressure you pass out, you see nothing but black, slowly you find what is dark and what is darker yet sleeping well?
What if everything you believed in was proven to be a lie? Everything you have been ignoring is coming back to get you, shouting at you that they are real.
And what if you don't wake up? You keep living the same nightmare over and over only because you are deeply lost inside your own mind, only because you are too weak to handle your fears.
They took it from us, our identity, our face! I am here to make sure to bring it all back...
I remember how that liquid was a stain from the walls to the floor while you walked in those halls, feeling the safety of my world under it's shell. You were free, not exposed to the savagery of the outside. You knew the truth but you looked for more, this creation wasn't enough, we made that shell and you began melting it bit by bit, slowly peeling one layer after the other, leaving only a black hole of nothing.
It's gone too far. After all, you are part of them.
In this game you play an unstable man, you will wander between walls that trap his mind and you will go deep into places you have never seen before.
The environment will be inconsistent, at first you might explore the brighter areas of his mind, but as you go deeper it gets darker, illusions and voices are everywhere.
Denial is the hard work of two brothers who worked tirelessly to bring their dream to life and they couldn't be more proud of it.
We invite you to take a visit into the madness, to face the truth.
"I AM A COSTUME, SHELL, SHADOW. BUT THAT'S OKAY, I AM THE ONE THEY CAN SEE AND YOU WERE LEFT TO FEEL IT"

What if you lied to yourself and it was so strong that you couldn't remember your previous self but then one day it started all started to crack then who would you become? That's pretty much what Denial is all about. However, the game doesn't do a great job at telling you anything. Are the worlds you are walking though part of your past life, present life, or neither? The game just makes you feel like you are going through arbitrary levels to go through to get to the end of the game. Very little is explained and then wrapped up at the end with a two choice ending and both are lackluster. You can also find some tiles with single words on them adding up to a sentence about your character. There are also ink blots to find for an achievement I guess but no achievements are given in the game. There are far more titles out there that will give you a better experience than Denial did.2 found this helpful
Severe head bob. Refunding.2 found this helpful
In 36 minutes, I could not get engaged in the "story". There's a whole lot of walking (in unnecessary semi-darkness), not much doing. So far, it is a pill and Rorschach test quest. Not impressed. No desire to continue.1 found this helpful
It's a no from. Whilst in many ways it's admirable what this small team have tried to achieve, ultimately it falls flat. Instead of coming across as minimal, it instead comes off as amateurish. The graphics and level design aren't great. The monster isn't threatening, the voice acting is janky, and whilst there is nothing game breaking it's still quite buggy. These bugs run the gamut from just slightly immersion breaking e.g. sound effects kicking in at odds volumes, to downright frustrating e.g. constantly clipping through a train and out onto the tracks and dying repeatedly. And the story is confusing and the bits that are clear aren't great. Also the DLC is a silly survival mode where you go about turning off radios for no reason, and giving you even closer up views of the monster which makes any sense of mystique and horror go out the window. Whilst certainly not the worst horror game on steam, there's very little to recommend here to make it worth your time or money. Avoid.1 found this helpful
I think the positive reviews are false, the game is terrible, probably the worst horror game in my library. Get away from it!1 found this helpful
Thats is my understanding from the game: the main character who can not choose the side of good or evil, his soul is divided into two parts. Imagine a situation where everything that you believed in for many years just becomes a lie. The main character in the game is an unstable person, and as for the gameplay, everything is simple here. You have to explore the world around you, solve simple physical puzzles, look for key objects, like in a quest, read notes and look for clues about what to do next, and just move forward. During the passage of the game you will visit various rather strange locations and gloomy places. In the end you will find two differnt endings.1 found this helpful
