Departed

I bought this game thinking it would be somewhat similar to The Cabin Factory which i think was really great game especially for it's price. Unfortunately I was disappointed as it didn't deliver as much as a fraction of what The Cabin Factory did. The ambient starts really strong from the very beginning giving the feeling that something's coming, but the only thing that is coming is boredom and lack of hope for anything interesting to happen. The so called "anomalies" are uninspired and underwhelming for example: additional graffiti on one of the signs. The fact that you have to look for them really hard and often miss them because they're way to subtle kills the atmosphere and makes it boring, and in the long term irritating as you fail for the x time in the row to find "anomaly". All the anomalies that I did encounter were with one exception(phone ringing) just static things, with no additional effects that were just waiting there for me look at them and go back. No animations, no light flickering, not even one cliche jumpscare, which at this point would actually do some good for this game. After 1.5h I just gave up, at this point I was walking for up to 10min around each station…

Nice game in the Exit 8 type genre! Some of the anomalies are obvious and some are really tough to catch. Definitely spend some extra time looking at every detail in the baseline room. I appreciate the level of detail in the anomalies, though some might find it to be too difficult. There is quite a bit to look at. Also, without spoiling, really interesting take on the progression of the game and ultimately winning.

From all the anomaly detection games I've played, this is by far the best one, and the only one that makes me come back to keep playing and get the final achievements (reach station 100 in endless mode and find all anomalies). It's a very good and well developed idea for this type of game, graphics are top notch. I found it very interesting that the game offers two scenarios: light and dark - each one with it's own set of anomalies. The dev fixed a game breaking bug in endless mode so, kudos to that - I am changing my review to positive as promised. Looking forward for more games like this from you, perhaps you can even update this game with more anomalies and achievements.

game was way too dark??? no idea why, can't adjust gamma, etc. Can't turn off motion blur. Game should really start with the obvious anomalies first, and then the subtle ones afterwards. Too frustrating, not fun to play. Really wanted to enjoy this game too, disappointed with performance issues.
