if i was born in 2008 never played dmc until after the netflix show posted gifs and dante edits on tiktok and never did a combo in my life i would probably say this is my favourite game of all time

It would be cool if we can just play nero/dante campaign normally and treat it like the vanilla version but the special edition has performance and inertia issues. The reason I complete all the achievements is just because I was already in too deep when I realize all of these so I can't back down and I can't refund it either. I would give a recommend but say to get vanilla instead cause if you get this you can play more characters (which the campaign is not optimized for them so it kinda suck) but the tradeoff is performance and inertia issues. But the vanilla no longer on steam so I have to say not recommended. Would change the review if they bring back the vanilla so we have the option for both.

(as of October 2026) The game just doesn't seem to work at all on modern PCs/displays. I'm not able to get past the title screen as it crashes as soon as I start a new game; I've followed various guides to fix the issue and tweaked my graphics settings in the hopes that the issue gets solved, but absolutely nothing works. Capcom supposedly released a patch that fixes issues like this in August, but it doesn't seem to have done anything (plus the patch notes were really barebones and vague). If this issue gets fixed in the future, I'll edit this review, but for now I definitely wouldn't recommend getting the game on here.
