Doughlings: Invasion switches things up with a Space Invaders-style shooter format, but the experience feels fairly basic overall. The colorful presentation and special abilities add some charm, yet the gameplay loop remains pretty straightforward and doesn't offer many surprises. While it's functional and easy to play, it struggles to stand out from other arcade shooters. A cute looking (worms style?) simple space invaders clone that play pretty alright. Perhaps it starts a bit to slow for my liking but it is all ok. There is nothing more to say about this one. Would i recommend it? A little bit. If i would have to rate this small game then i would give this 6 out of 10 points for what it is. And i'd say a 1 for originality but that is not so important here, Somewhat RECOMMENDED!1 found this helpful
Others have said Space Invaders Clone/Homage. To me, it hits the ever-present box of Indie game passing off poor coding as difficulty. Hitboxes are hit and miss. How long certain damaging sprites stay on screen is not consistent. The game feels like it's the "perfect length" because if it played with standard programming, it would be too short. In all, not a fan. Finished it to finish it, but glad it came as part of a humble bundle.
I really do not understand what all those negative reviews are about. Maybe they stopped at the first world (which seems right with an average of .2/.3 hours played), which is basic by design to introduce you to the game. Each world introduces new enemies and a new power, so you need to decide how to deal with them (dealing with the bulkier ones might not be the priority if weaker ones are there or if you can collect a power). I recommend trying it out if you're interested in it, though maybe during a sale.
