Dreadful River

A cool Idea, but Gameplay missing depth. I didnt even bother with 3/4 of the units because they are not worth it. procedural Map is almost always a good idea. Just pointless if you get bored before reaching the last 1/3 of the Game. The Story is pretty pointless as well (just demands you to do the first river again, when your completely op and if your unlucky and miss a story based dungeon, you just do the whole thing again.) I think i will play this again casually, but without troop updates e.g. there is barely a point to keep playing. The Maps/Biomes and dungeons look really cool. Some sort of dungeons you might skip after 1-2 times, because its too tedious to clear and not really rewarding.

feels like an alpha. water looks great but the controls are awful

So the game looks cool, the water looks great and the concept is cool. However, I have played for about 19 hours and I am bored to tears. You get a lot of guys with good armor and weapons and soon there is no reason to open chest nothing new. You just kill everything easy. you have to look for stones and you go down pretty much the same places to find the the stones and it is the same thing over and over. I got three stones and I just can not get myself to do more. the game is so repetitive and easy. also some glitches like landing on the shore wont work a quarter of the time so have to save and exit come back in and then i can land, sometimes running around gets glitchy and hard to focus on an enemy as the camera angles go all over. the upgrade map pretty pointless and you can max it out pretty easy. I really wanted to like the game but I am happy I am quitting.

Fun game, it works as advertised

This review maybe premature. The game is good but not captivating. Striking and movement with your personal character/avatar is awkward. Sailing, exploring, and controlling your party work just fine. I enjoy the concept. It has a niche... much like the Last Train Home in reverse. Interesting concept, easy game play you can lose a lot of hours too. However, it seems the devs have left the game. A lot of little bugs and then there isn't a whole lot to do once you get into the river system and the few upgrades. Currently, the achievement system doesn't work correctly and no updates since launch, so I have to say this game is not recommended. Hopefully an update comes through at some point. Probably an AI game.
