Players praise Neverwinter's engaging combat system and accessibility as a free-to-play MMO with a solid D&D universe setting that can be enjoyed without spending money. However, the game is heavily criticized for its aggressive monetization model with extensive time gates on progression, where players can spend months to complete single campaigns, and numerous systems that push players toward real-money purchases rather than rewarding regular gameplay.
I genuinely loved this game. The combat is fantastic, and while the graphics aren't ground-breaking, they never bothered me. Unfortunately, that's where my praise ends. The biggest problem is that the developers don't seem to care about the new-player experience. Almost every aspect of progression is locked behind time gates. Completing a single campaign can take at least 10 weeks, and there are more than 10 campaigns to finish. If you want to access the full endgame experience, completing them all is practically mandatory. Even worse, many of these time gates can be bypassed by spending real money. Campaign completion items, mounts, companions, companion equipment, enchantments, and several other progression systems all encourage opening your wallet instead of simply playing the game and every best in slot items are locked behind chest wish you open with real life money. What makes this even more frustrating is that most of this progression is character-bound rather than account-wide. If you decide to try another class, you're expected to repeat the same lengthy grind from the beginning. I wanted to recommend this game because the core gameplay is genuinely fun. Neverwinter is one of a respectable free to play MMO,its kinda like a action rpg oldshool on the DnD universe but like every MMO he have big flaws like a big long progression and a cash shop but overall its a cool game for killing time and meet some cool gamers,if grinding the same crap over and over its your thing,this is a okay game. for those who is wondering is neverwinter is a pay to win?yes it is, like every Free to play on the market,neverwinter have a subcribtion for every month and give you boost bonus on your progression, but you can get trough to all the content as a free player, it will be much longer.
I though it was gonna suck like that D&D Online game but boy was i wrong.. This is way better and i will keep playing
