First impressions after 2 hours of game play. Fleet commands / grouping is lacking, it is missing filtering options for the Types of Ships. When just draw a big square and select all the combat ships, it just grabs everything, but they are all different speeds and roles. Ideally you should be able to filter only fighters, or only battle cruisers, after you have them in a selection, that will help quickly group the different type of ships and be able to use them properly, instead of wasting a lot of time manually pick and choosing each ship to add it into a group, waaaaaaaaay too slow. Research is extremely annoying, for Quality of Life, there should be the option to pre-queue a list of research you want to be done in order. instead of having to revisit the research box every few minutes, and often you forget to go back there while you're busy dealing with War. Scouts are absolutely useless in the current state, we need an option again for quality of life, for the Scout ships to auto explore on its own, as done in many many other games. Having to manually drag the scout ships across the huge map is extremely painful, even when you have set scroll speed to maximum. The map, it's …10 found this helpful
If you enjoy having to dock your ships constantly to resupply them have at it. Ships move slowly that I just want to get out and push them. Just slow and no fun.10 found this helpful
Really fun game! Very enjoyable space RTS and being able to jump into a ship and fly manually is A+++! There are still a few bugs and quirks to the UI but every release has been better than the last. Well done!3 found this helpful
Just getting started with this title and so far happy with the type and amount of game mechanics, the dev has done the homework in that area for reals. I have played many space games from an Indie fav SOIL, to Dust Fleet, Space Reign, and they dont have quite the amount of things to do while waiting for the big bad. If u get into space games and play the demo you will notice many intuitive choices like auto assign cargo ships, clean base building it just makes sense nice music and radio chatter as well. Now its ea so one has to wonder etc we all know that but for sale price 15.29 you get value, if u play dw2 certain you will jump on this and not cry at all about the quirks the game has. It has a Armada /Homeworld feel , simpler but better execution of dw2, not full 3d space unless I have not found that key combo yet. there is no tutorial but help pops up with help on keyboard commands and there is a good info page in the options. This game has pacing to maybe its the little metronome feature top left of your screen, it works. You have crew improvement also, yeah u have crew and crew quarters and perks for that, and you can fly your ships though not like space r…1 found this helpful
TLDR - A lot of depth and rewarding gameplay to be had for an asking price of $18. Combat & Gameplay comparable to SW: Empire at War and Sins of a Solar Empire. We need more games and passionate devs like this! This game is really in-depth and there's a surprising amount of detail and thought put into this game. It's games like Dynasty Protocol that makes me wish we had more developers in this field of games as it's one of my absolute favorites. If a single developer can do this on their own imagine a larger indie, AA, or AAA doing this with more resources? That said, this game has features I wish we had in a proper Star Wars Empire at War sequel. Definitely going to keep my eye on this game as the dev is very active and always engaging with the community to adjust and improve the game. I know I have a lot more to learn with the game and I'm sure I've missed other positives and negative. I'm going to have to dig in and learn more with the game. I may get some of my points below wrong or out of context as I've only played for about an hour, but I wanted to give a positive review/recommendation out early. There's a lot more to learn, so I offer below as constructive feedba…1 found this helpful
I'll recommend Dynasty Protocol. [olist] [*] I find the graphics a bit grainy, but regardless it's pretty good. [*] The sound is good. I especially like the background chatter. [*] The startup sequence of the different station sections I find unique and I like it. You don't just get a fully functional station. Activation goes through a process. You need to activate one section before the next one. It doesn't take long and adds some sense of "realism". [*] The U.I. takes some time getting used to. And some of the text is very small meaning it's a bit hard to read. The overall look of the U.I. is well designed in my opinion. [*] Ship building and upgrades work well. Your ships are predefined and you order them as needed. [*] The research tree is extensive. [*] The game- and ship detail looks good. [*] The character images looks good. [*] The price very fair. [*] At this stage the only thing that I DO NOT LIKE is the save system. Every time you save your game you have to type in a name. I do not understand the logic of this approach. [/olist] That's it in a nutshell. I don't have too much playtime but my first impression of Dynasty Protocol is positive.1 found this helpful
