Dyztopia: Post-Human RPG

Dyztopia is a fun but complex RPG. I adored the story and characters, and felt that the writing was excellent all the way through. I personally don't think there are any huge surprises along the way, but it makes sense and is just incredibly enjoyable. The script is funny and charming, while also just tells a genuinely wonderful story. It gets pretty intense, is a little dark, and also even gets pretty emotional. I thoroughly enjoyed and there are even some branching decisions and alternate paths available that I'm interested in seeing. I'd also say it's short enough where multiple playthroughs aren't unreasonable at all. The combat, in my opinion, was extremely complex. So complex, that I didn't really understand it completely. I was kinda just hitting spells and things usually worked out. Once I found out what worked, I just used it on repeat. On normal difficulty, only the bosses really gave a challenge (which is not a complaint or issue) but I really can't speak too much on the "objective" quality of the combat system because a decent amount of it just went over my head. Really fun, the battle system is really front loaded and kinda just throws you into it. There are some tutorials to explain a few things just be sure to not skip over them as they are important. Music is great and I really enjoy the character designs. These are first impressions of course but I feel like this is something I could easily recommend.

A great and replayable RPG in almost every way conceivable. The most I can levy against it is that it lacks subtlety in its storytelling.

The battle system of Dyztopia is polished and designed stylistically, functionable and readable. It's been updated from what the store screen shots depict, a good update I'd say it's a lot cleaner now. Selected the hardest difficulty, too easy for me still, that or defence is just that busted. Your score in boss battles improves for not using consumables, but I wouldn't say there's much incentive for a perfect score besides achievement hunting. For the core gameplay I found it enjoyable, the battle system is capable of interesting scenarios with a lot of varied RPG mechanics. The graphics I'd call the sticker pixel art style. The music has a few good tracks, others get old. There are some easy to spot graphical issues in the game, notably I was missing all the icons for any and all support magic. Revived enemies also were missing their sprites when they came back. There weren't any mechanical gameplay issues that I encountered what so ever. The story, this is where you're going to love it or hate it. The linguistical choices are painfully modern, such as the unironic use of words like boomer, in a world setting where humanity and its culture has all but ceased to exist. Dyztopia …
