EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: WORLD BROTHERS

If you can get this game on sale it is a decent little bit of fun, but if you feel the need to 100% games this one is a straight 1/10. You have to play through every mission 5 times over and get all of the characters and weapons which is just a bunch of mission resetting. Also there is 1 co-op achievement so you either have to find someone else who has the game or buy it for someone else to get that :)

Was really pleasantly surprised with this one. Went into it not really knowing what to expect. Turns out to be a really solid EDF game with "Hero Shooter" elements. Rather than having your standard 4 classes Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Rader and Fencer. You instead have a whole selection of different characters to choose from. Each with their own unique abilities. This not only includes your standard EDF classes but EDF classes from every EDF game up till this games release. We're talking Global Defense Force (EDF1) all the way through to EDF5 and including spin off games Insect Armageddon and Iron Rain. Giving this game a very Avengers Endgame/Super Smash bros feel. You will also be fighting enemies from those games too. The writing is pretty enjoyable and very light hearted. I had a great time playing through this one and I would 100% Recommend if youre on the fence about trying it out. Especially if youre an EDF fan whos played all the games.

Not played much but it's fun, the gameplay is simple-enough to get used to, the upgrade system makes sense, the levels though small by EDF standards are way more varied and well put together and it's remarkably charming. It's also somehow more complex and engaging than iron-rain (the worst EDF title) without breaking it's casual gameplay nature.

Oh right, I never left a review on this. Well, my low playtime combined with how long I've owned it should tell a lot about how thoroughly underwhelmed it left me. Some compare it positively to Iron Rain, and frankly I could not disagree more, and this is while acknowledging IR is an incredibly flawed game that could have used a lot of extra work. Sure, this game doesn't rely on consumables with use animations that get cancelled by scratch damage or the heavier enemies walking too close to you, but that's about the only good thing I can say about it. Thing is, I'd rather play a flawed game with some fun aspects than a game that lacks such glaring flaws, but is also completely lacking in anything actually enjoyable, and this is so blatantly the later. Let's see, what does this game do well? It sure isn't humor, borderline-offensive national stereotypes constantly repeating their one singular joke aren't exactly funny. Is it being a celebration of the EDF series? Most of the cast and weapons are the aforementioned national stereotypes and their signature, non-EDF weapons, and most of the more interesting EDF weapons that are featured at all are locked behind specific EDF members'…

I love Urthda Fender, he's my favorite character in all of fiction.
