Overview
You think the year is 1899, but you seem to have lost your memory. You can confirm you’re on a ship, and you've been told that you're heading for Shanghai. Whatever the truth may be, the only thing you have left is a name: Elias. Who is he? Why is he important? and what does he have to do with your missing past? The only way to find answers is to venture forth, exploring an exotic and unfamiliar land.
EMPYRE: Earls of the Deep Earth is a classic isometric tactical RPG with a story-driven campaign. Taking place before the Great Flood that changed the EMPYRE world, your journey takes you through the land of China at the end of the 19th century. The adventure ahead places you in a new setting where a Neo-Victorian renaissance with science fiction/fantasy twists is taking place!
On your journey, you will visit many strange villages encounter many peculiar characters, and explore mysterious underground locations. Your allies and enemies are intent on guiding you toward an unknown goal. Only time will tell if you have the bravery and ingenuity to survive the search for answers in the final EMPYRE adventure: Earls of the Deep Earth.

Diving into the depths of EMPYRE: Earls of the Deep Earth on Steam, it's clear this game attempts to chart new territories but seems to find itself lost in the underground. Pros: - Unique setting and premise: The game’s narrative and world-building introduce players to a Neo-Victorian version of the Orient, offering a refreshing backdrop compared to more traditional game settings. - Potential for depth: With its isometric tactical RPG gameplay, EMPYRE aims to offer complex strategies and character development. - Table Top Feel: The game has a lot of neat features in character building which can really build and ad depth to the story Cons: Performance issues: Technical issues such as bugs, Smoothness of Game play, un-intuitive controls significantly from the gaming experience. Weak Dialog: For a Narrative game the dialog feels very bland and predictable Setting: While the setting has SO much potential its delivery is a resounding MEH With a lot of ground yet to cover, the game currently sits at 3/10 cases of amnesia. I started this game not knowing what to expect. It was set in China and I was missing "something" that a guy named Elias had stolen. There is quite a bit of dialog at the beginning. It takes a while to get through it but it sets up the game nicely for what is to come. It's a bizarre looking place based mainly in grayscale with flashes of bright colors peppered about. I didn't really get this until the devs helped me out with why it is that way. (It's a dreamscape with the bright areas representing emotional parts of the brain). As for the game itself, you have all the usual RPG systems (Character creator/Inventory management, skill usage etc.). I personally liked the Character creator and did note that I was able to use the skills that I invested in, in the game. Regarding the combat, it is a pretty unique system. You can queue up commands and watch them unfold in real time or you can simply right-click and move/attack in real time (like you do in every real time game). Pausing and queuing actions is a nice way to plan out your attack and coordinate your moves. The story was pretty wild.
