This is some straight raw hard ass SHMUP that reminds me of the Gradius series by Konami and R-Type by Irem. There's even elements of Ikaruga in there with the whole absorption of energy shots by enemies. It's similar but I can see the inspiration that this game has. At first I was raging and getting whiny about it but after starting to learn the controls and gameplay I started to like and appreciate it. I also like the music in this with its neon and synth. There's also some drum n bass when fighting that one boss. The difference with this game is the stage selections when you are on the map. Instead of going from one level to the next you select it in this space like area that lets you start a stage so it's not continuous like other SHMUPs. This is a good game though and I think worth checking out if you're a fan of these types of space shooter side scrolling games. Other than the increasing difficulty this game was pretty good! I'm starting to learn the gameplay mechanics and because of that I started to like it. I'll play this some more later and try to beat it.

Endocrisis is pretty fun and challenging. Combination of boss levels and regular levels while dodging platforms. The best part? Using your ship to run into bullets with your dodge to gather energy to keep you powered up and shielded to take some damage (Only if you stop shooting can you take damage, Learned that the hard way!) Game is a blast and looks amazing as well! Worth looking into!

FatOldGamers Curator Page The mechanics of Endocrisis range from single runs similar to Steredenn (A channel favorite) to frantic bullet absorption that feels like the Ikaruga polarity switching (Another channel favorite). There is also an interesting resource management component that revolves around your available life which depletes based on the number of bullets you shoot, as well as raises based on the enemy bullets you absorb. Essentially, if you love auto-fire in Shoot'em ups, you will need to learn to conserve in certain stages. These mechanics bound with the Neon color palette and slick enemy designs collide in an interesting game that is even more impressive when you look at the fact this is the developer's first published title.
