About Escape Space
3 DIFFERENT FACTIONS
As a mercenary, you'll get to decide for which faction(s) you're willing to fight. Your actions will have consequences, so choose wisely!
The Earth Military Conglomerate: the Earth's military faction. They usually have big guns and tend to use ballistic-based weapons when in combat.

The Void Outlaws: the renegade faction in space. They use weird tactics in combat with a wide variety of weapons, depending on what they might have stolen.

The Quantum Riders: the cult of scientists focusing on new technology. They usually have high-end energy weapons and shields at their disposal.

22 STORY MISSIONS
You'll get to play up to 12 different story missions in a single run, but there are 3 different paths you can take from the beginning to discover all of the 22 handcrafted story missions!
ENDLESS PROCEDURAL CONTRACTS
Between two story missions, you'll be able to grind for money or reputation by doing procedurally-generated contracts for the factions you wanna play with.
7 GAME MODES
There are up to 7 different mission types in the game, and you'll get to unlock them all the more you progress through the storyline.
- The Elimination missions: go through some waves on enemies until you reach the priority target and hunt it down!
- The Collect missions: fight waves of enemies until you gather enough of the requested component from their scrap!
- The Escort missions: help an allied and defenseless unit to go through a space sector by destroying any enemy target in front of you!
- The Warfare missions: get involved in a conflict between two factions and get some reinforcement from the faction that requested some help!
- The Rush missions: assault an enemy faction's position and go through their defenses while destroying all of their units!
- The Survival missions: fight enemy waves for a set time, and decide if you want to continue and earn more rewards by destroying more of them!
- The Mayhem missions: target a fleet concentrating numerous elite enemies and take them all down!
5 DIFFICULTIES
Even if the story missions' difficulty is set and cannot be changed, you'll be able to play the procedurally-generated contract missions based on their difficulty. The more difficult they are, the higher the risks and rewards will be!

Having trouble with higher difficulties? Maybe it's time to grind lower-difficulty contracts to get some new gear and upgrades!
17 WEAPONS
You'll start to play with the default Firestorm machine gun unlocked, and then be able to expand your arsenal with gifted or purchased weapons!

12 MODS
Starting without any mod, you'll be able to get new perks by unlocking and selecting new mods! From a passive energy shield to an active E.M.P. system, test and decide what mod works best for you!

18 COLORS
Who said you cannot be classy in space? You can decide on your spaceship's colors using 18 different colors, on two layers (primary and secondary). Plus, you can also decide what the color of your thruster's exhaust is!

45 UPGRADES
In addition to the customization, you'll be able to constantly improve your spaceship by getting new upgrades until you get them all! Plan to unlock the most relevant ones for your playstyle first and dominate your enemies!
BEAUTIFUL HANDCRAFTED PIXEL ART
All of the in-game assets are hand-made with pixel art by myself, hope you'll enjoy them!
AN AMAZING OST
We teamed up with the very talented Scott Hsu who made this incredible OST for Escape Space!

You replay the same overly simplistic levels over and over again. It's a slow boring grind and there's no pot of gold under the rainbow.5 found this helpful
Was excited to play this and really disappointed. I could've refunded but I hope the dev actually improves this as there's a good game in it. The repetition: Once you've hit level 20, all the levels become very samey just different factions. You have to grind levels as levels don't give you anything bar harder difficulty. I got to 75 then called it a day as was so bored The grind: Even on the harder levels you only get 1000-1500 chips, so with upgrades costing 5-10k, it's tedious, especially as the levels are all the same The weapons/mods: Takes ages to get the agility mod and until then the ship is like a beached whale. Tediously slow. Also the weapons all feel samey. They need upgrades, more distinction. Looks nice, plays nice, but it's let down by repetitive grinding. Buy if it's improved or on sale2 found this helpful
A semi-realistic horizontal shmup that becomes almost akin to a bullet hell in higher difficulty missions. Some sparse thoughts: - Having the idea of your weapon overheating but becoming more powerful before doing so is nice as an element of risk/reward in your gameplay. - Trying to balance your popularity between three different factions is also interesting at first, but it doesn't actually change much besides having better or worse prices in the shops and getting some achievements. - There are different kinds of missions (escorting, retrieving items, enemy base raid etc.) and it's good, but it becomes disappointing when you find out that every kind of missions always stays the same and only gets longer and more tedious at higher difficulty levels. - Some weapon and mod combinations (especially shotgun lasers + shield) trivialize the game's difficulty and after having bought these you'll likely never use anything else, since other more powerful lasers overheat too easily and other mods are barely useful at all. Nice retro-styled game anyway, with a good soundtrack and utilitarian but nice pixel graphics.2 found this helpful
Really fun!!. I have been a fan of the old school classics, like Xenon 2, Swiv, R-type, and this has captured that essence and turned it into a really enjoyable game. The overheating system , took me a while to get used to , but it really is a good discipline to try and maintain the strong fire power. Fully recommended, Nice going1 found this helpful
Easy to learn (even for me!)! The feel is really good and there's a wide variety of USEFUL customisations! So it's cool! If you like Bullet hell and old school shoot em ups but with a more modern aesthetic check it out :o (Good music by the way ) (SteamDeck Friendly)1 found this helpful
Not usually a fan of shmups with a more mission based format. But it's really fun in Escape Space! I wish the intro to each level was faster, or a skip button.
