Esophaguys is a puzzle platformer with a quirky, fun style and a truly novel mechanic. Your old-timer character moves around by biting things and then extending or contracting their neck to have their body arrive at their destination. The graphics are cute, bright and curly. Everything pops out, everything stands out and all the... uh... special creatures look like they belong to this world. The longer I play, the more I feel like I'm being drawn into someone else's geriatric trip. It is obvious a lot of thought and care went into world-building. There are giant mushrooms, giant pink trees to bite onto and giant snakes that... eat balls to open... throat doors. ***stares confusedly at notes*** The sound design and soundtrack really stand out in my opinion. It appears that all the effects such as footsteps and heaving and grunting are made by a totally normal human. The music is played with a pleasant acoustic guitar, banjo and the skillful twang of a Jew's harp, the most mainstream instrument imaginable. One hears a lot of familiar folk melodies, something that can really be appreciated. Clearly lots of love was shown to the auditory experience. The strength of the game…9 found this helpful
I remember playing multiplayer co-op with all my friends many moons ago and this game hits a wave of nostalgia. It's a great game for solo adventures as well as getting enthralled by the sound track. The smooth controls allow the player to move easily throughout the levels while being able to traverse differently each time. Can't wait for more!6 found this helpful
Really great time, gets all my friends laughing together as soon as they hold the controller. The controls take a second to get used to but feel natural once you're going. Should note it only works with remote play but I haven't come into an issues with that. Grab some buddies and give it a go2 found this helpful
