THERE IS TOO MUCH READING I'm here to play some games not read a picture book. Had to start skipping the story by chapter 2. There is no visual novel tag on the store page and the trailer is filled with the 3D gameplay with only small snippets of dialogue. It creates the illusion that the game is primarily combat and exploration when in reality it's about 75% text dump. What little story I did soak in was fine but nothing spectacular and the same goes for the actual gameplay, it's just serviceable. A good portion of the side-quests are guarded behind exhausting all dialogue with every npc in the hubs or Tales of style "skits". The graphics/animation is fine albeit a little Unity stiff, the environments are very flat and boxy however I can't exactly fault it for that when a bunch of AAA titles pull the same crap. One thing that really bummed me out towards the end was when I completed these 3 side-quests for each of the characters to get their "ultimate weapon" only for the last zone in the game to give me better weapons. You can see a few of the characters' underwear though which is a nice feature yet once again this is only serviceable due to many other characters not having th…6 found this helpful
Games short but great. Games perfect for those that want a 10-15hr action RPG with some VN elements. Main cast are all developed well enough and some of the side quests are interesting. Biggest Con for the game is the unnecessary backtracking as they do not allow you to TP from save points to the main map. However they let you TP from main map to save points. All in all it was nice to see Celeste's story through1 found this helpful
I gave it some time so far, TLDR; They didn't cook enough with this kickstarter game, It's not raw but it is under cooked. Not sure about the VN quality because I was more curious about the combat/mix of the two camera is slippery, models lack animation almost to an insulting degree. basic movement lacks a few things. The 3D art is a tad cobbled together. The combat related game play loop lacks both satisfaction and hooks to draw people in. The 2d VN art looks very nice though My first impression is that this game has had maybe 30% of the effort needed put in to make the non visual novel aspects worthwhile.1 found this helpful
For a man who need a simple hack-and-slash game, this game is for you. It's the only non-idle game over a year that I have touched beyond 1 hour in a very busy week, suggesting the "simple fun" factor. By "simple" I mean you don't need to contract a migraineous headache or burn your precious time in order to battle and build your character to perfection while trying to progress the game. I'd like to compare the gameplay exchange between Visual Novel and Hack-and-Slash part to other dual-gameplay games such as Arknights, Limbus Company, or even Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, which is a nice and solid concept but clearly and certainly will provoke players who has reading, memory, and/or attention problem. Battle is very simple yet still challenging because most of the time you still have to manually activate combo/skills instead of just lazily waiting a kind of gauge filled then unleash the combo/skills based on that gauge. People are complaining about battle AI and graphics, but my only complain is the unintuitive shop system! You better use controller or you'll spend your time switching between keyboard and mouse when buying even a simple health potion. In conclusion: a cozy VN-h…
This is a very budget game and the kind of game that would make IF/CH (and Tamsoft) blush. I can compare this to 4 Goddess Online because there are a lot of gameplay similarities. But in my opinion, Eternal Radiance is smoother and better. 50% of the game is dialogue and 50% of the game is dungeon/combat. The game can be finish in about 20 hours or less depending on your reading speed and if you ignore enemies or not. There are no descriptive/narrative dialogue so it cuts the VN aspect of the game by a lot. The bosses are challenging and hard, requiring Souls-like level of reactive dodge. The 2 party members you get are unplayable and the AI are really dumb. They're both made to be range party members likely to not worry about the AI running into attacks. So the only melee character is you, the protagonist/character you play as. You'll always do more damage than your AI party members. They're just there for chip damage. The Side quests are straight forward and feels like a chore, always in the new area you're going to. All the Side quests can be completed just by exploring each new areas. Only 2 Side quest require you to return to a previous area you've been to then never again. So…
It was a very good game
