About Ex Sanguis

From the Sanguis of the Mater, the Stillae are born, elite warriors who bear the last of their divinity's hope, for you to lead them in a battle to save a dying world. Fight in tactical combat against the forces of Stasis and restore the flow of life!

Your perfect plan

Plan your next moves with dynamic turn-based combat, strategically triggering epic chains of events across the battlefield:
 • Use Timeline Effects to speed up, delay or swap time position to impact turn order and outsmart your enemies.
 • Play with your surroundings that can explode, ignite enemies, or block sight... changing the outcome of the battles.
 • Leverage spatial effects like knock-backs, forced facings, flanking bonuses, and damage-over-time to dominate every encounter.
 • Unlock a vast arsenal of abilities, each offering powerful synergies and deep build customization.

Take on risks and progress

 • Choose your own path and difficulty as you progress through the map.
 • Take on high-risk, high-reward missions, head straight for boss encounters, or slow down to gather resources to increase your chance of success.
 • All missions contribute to gradual progress and reflect the type of experience you decide.

A Roguelite loop adapted to turn-based combat

 • Defeat the challenging ennemies to gain bonus 'Corrupted Blood' you can use to get access to epic bosses earlier earlier, or to spend in the Map Events to gain upgrades to customize your deadly squad.
 • The further away you venture toward the outer rim of the map, the harder the standard Missions become.
 • As you play, the cycle never repeats. With each return, each playthrough, you carve new strength from failure and victory alike, unlocking forgotten powers and braving ever darker depths, where your greatest enemies await

A Crimson Rebellion

In a world drained by the Purge, blood is defiance. Each drop of it paints the world in reds and blacks, as a reminder that life fights back. This is not just violence, it's a vivid rebellion in a pale, colorless world against those who would see it in Stasis forever.

The game is not half bad considering it is in early access. I am a very big fan of Othercide but I could not help feeling like the story has the similar plot. I am hoping it is a twist and is in the same universe as Othercide. My big gripe or gripes with this game is the combat feels extremely one sided and starting a new memory run is more tedious than anything else. Unlike Othercide where you could return units, skip bosses you have beat etc. Ex Sanguis makes you go through the slog over and over again and all of the fights are not fun. In it's current state I would not recommend buying it unless it is on a discount, you really enjoy combat that pretty one sided, or you do not mind a slog to unlock a boss fight that turns out to be really simple. Unlike othercide, the bosses are extremely easy to beat and feel anti climax when you have killed them. The lead up to the boss fights frustrating to say the least. Even with combat sped up you are essentially trying to destroy a single objective with enemies that are never ending or you have to run around the entire arena to kill 3 or 4 targets. In my opinion neither of these are that satisfying to play to gain the corrupted blood re…

Incredible potential! I've played the hell out of Ex Sanguis ever since the beta test started. Atmosphere: Stunningly dark, setting the perfect mood right from the start thanks to the amazing soundtrack and visual style. Gameplay: Challenging but very rewarding. The mechanics are smooth and well thought out. Development: The roadmap looks fantastic, and it's great to see developers who actually communicate with their player base. Buying it now is a great investment into what will surely be an amazing full release. Thank you for the DLC with the beautiful artbook and fantastic music. Good luck to the team! I can't wait to see how the game evolves.

Ex Sanguis is a game with a lot of potential. Whether that potential comes to be realized or not remains to be seen throughout the games full Early Access period, but I am hopeful from what I've played so far. As with their previous game Othercide, Lightbulb Crew has really proven once again they have have a knack for visual flair, atmosphere and music which should be obvious to you from the preview images you can see above. However, that alone is not enough to make a good game or this game would immediately be receiving 10/10 from every review outlet known to man. For that you also need a good game loop and a reason to keep the player wanting more. The gameplay of Ex Sanguis is also very reminiscent of Othercide, once again featuring the timeline mechanic, hard but fair tactical encounters and stat/resource based progression as you fight your way through nodes on the map and towards each boss the game has to offer until you inevitably die and come back stronger. This is unfortunately where the game makes it's first stumble though, which is that going from node to node & then resetting back to square one in the memory system the developers have laid out can feel quite repetitiv…

There is a lot of fun to be had with this game. The timeline system is pretty unique and fun idea. However if you have played Othercide, there is a sense that the developers have not done enough to differentiate itself. I'm hopeful that given time this game will be a meaningful step forward from Othercide. For the price you will certainly get your money's worth and this is one of the few games that makes you stop and really think about your moves which I really appreciate.

once again, sold on the artstyle alone (Othercide) highly recommend

I bought this cause I loved Othercide. However, I hope the devs will see this game through and not abandon it like they did with Othercide, because that game has too much jank and they don't seem to care about it anymore.
