I thought this would be neat to try out but the "full experience" and the "Garden" don't work. They just crash the program. Only thing that works is the "shopping experience" which is still interesting. Hopefully someone will fix this. Using Oculus Rift.4 found this helpful
Experience: Colorblindness is a free VR experience. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. The narrator had an accent and stumbled around some English syntax. Was interesting to see what Colorblind people see and how they have to adapt to some simple situations that normal sighted people can do with no problem. Update: 16 August 2024, program crashes with fatal error when you select the Full experience or the Garden. Try this game, it will open your eyes.2 found this helpful
Experience: Colorblindness is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. This software application has two main functions, first and foremost is a VR "experience" (not to be confused with a game) where you experience a couple of environments (if they work properly, it's a buggy mess) with the colour palettes changed around a bit so you see things roughly the same way colourblind people do. Okay. Secondly this application will give you some basic colourblindness assessments. Don't get me wrong, understanding the ways people can be differently abled from one another is important and something we should all try to do. However, this is Steam, for PC games. Neither of the two functions of this application are games. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer a…1 found this helpful
A great way to experience colorblindness beyond a Google search. Short but fun (and a bit depressing) experience!
