About Factor Y
Introduction
Factor Y is a relaxing, large-scale, multi-planetary, mega factory automation game.
Mine resources, craft new items and structures via recipes and generate your own, custom building blocks.
Expand your factory to span across multiple planets.
Demo
There's a demo of Factor Y which offers all the features of the full game except for the ability to load games.
With the demo you can freely test the entire game and pick up where you left once you decide to get the full version (you'll have to manually copy the savegames folder).
Mining
Use miners combined with arms and belts to extract the planet's natural resources to feed your factory's ever-growing hunger.
Processing
With the help of furnaces you can turn raw ores into plates.
Which can then be used to craft items in assemblers with increasing complexity. Craft new structures such as belts and arms to further expand your factory.
Research
Unlock new technologies to increase your factory's throughput and size and to unlock more useful structures.
You can later also unlock buffs that affect your current and future factories on all planets.
Modules
Use the planner feature to create custom blueprints.
Which can then be turned into new buildings blocks (modules) for your factory. This way you can create new, custom 'assemblers' which may support any recipe.
You can even use your previously generated modules when planning new ones.
Expand
Use your custom modules to further expand your factory. There's more than enough 'space' left.
Multiple Planets
Colonize new planets and transfer resources between them to connect their factories.
Production Stats
Every placed structure and produced item within your factory is tracked and can be viewed via detailed graphs.
Plugins
Unlock plugins which enable you to add additional behavior to your structures. Filter for specific items or limit the throughput.

This game shows promise, but I can't say I would recommend it right now based on what all the other reviews are saying. The main point for me is the UX which is a disaster. Thankfully, it can be fixed and I trust the developer to do so. This is, in my opinion, the highest priority because the current UX will lead SO MANY players away, and even the ones that stay (like me) will end up not progressing that far because of how much of a hassle it is to do anything (build things, change building settings, create modules (this really needs a lot of extra work, there is already interesting discussion in the forums)). Basically I'll follow along the updates and make sure to update my recommendation accordingly.5 found this helpful

There is surprisingly a lot here for a game that often is on sale for a buck fifty. Very chill. I actually like the UX. Reminds me of my early gaming days on Windows XP. Feel nostalgic.2 found this helpful
It is a bit slower speed factory game, which is more likable to me imho a more constant visuals are coming later I hope, some part looks different than the others after a certain progress it became a bit laggy (around Research 3) but I'm in beta so some optimization will be done for sure2 found this helpful
TL,DR: Factor Y is a "Factorio for the rest of us". It's a casual planet-spanning factory building game where you won't have to worry about the native life forms coming over the hills to destroy your stuff. Blueprints can be used to simplify production assembly lines but it does not translate well from paper to planet. It demands little on system specs, offers a sparse but adequate tech tree to work with, but has a few gaps in the game mechanics that force you to run Factor Y like an idle game. The UI is a little clunky to work with, and currently there is no way to move chests without losing what is contained inside them. Most of my time with this game was offline, probably 5-6 hours. When you want to build conveyor spaghetti for a while it works well.
