About Fantasmagorie

“It’s simple enough to make the puppets move–that’s not what makes them special. You see, when children watch our shows, they believe what they’re seeing is real. To them, the puppets are alive.”

Journey through a distorted puppet theatre held together by the fragile mind of a grieving puppet master. Take the stage as Viviette—a music box ballerina who's mysteriously free from the puppet master's control.

Danger looms around every corner, filling the workshop, backstage, and stage of this theatre with perilous threats. With only a needle and thread by your side, you must swing, climb, and manipulate objects to progress, all while evading twisted and terrifying puppets along the way. Follow the guidance of a mysterious spirit to uncover fragmented memories from the past, revealing more about the one pulling the strings.

Shatter the delusion and uncover the truth behind it all.

Fantasmagorie is a free 30 minute narrative game created by a team of students. Uncover the story by exploring 3 levels and encountering 3 bosses along the way. Your download will include the full game experience, with a save system and settings for sound/graphics.

This game f%cking sucks. Literally just a dev team looking to show off their graphical abilities while lacking in every other aspect of game development. Horrible conveyance, terrible controls, collision detection that borders on cheating, slow and clunky movement, and the fact that your character slides everywhere like the whole game is some kind of ice level is infuriating. I can't tell how many times I died just trying to get from one ledge to another because either she glides right off of it when I stop to try and time it, She doesn't jump when I hit the key bound to it. The games collision detection couldn't make it's mind up on whether I actually hit the ledge just right enough to count it. And all this doesn't even take into consideration whether or nor the game is going to trap you in an invisible wall in the foreground that the cursor keeps locking to. Yeah, you either get wedge against a wall that isn't there, or the imaginary wall just keeps honing your threaded needle gimmick to attach to it rather than anything else in the room. Did I mention it does so at random? I get it, this is a free game by a dev team trying to put something out there, but even then I still fee…

Wow! One of my all time favorite short games ever. The animation is absolutely stunning, the atmosphere creepy yet beautiful - our main character... GORGEOUS! Immediately fell in love and won't ever forget this one. It was partially compatible with controller so I had to switch back and forth the whole game which caused me to mess up a few times. NEED a full version PLEASE!! loved it!

Sad and tragic background. Challenging and fun.

It is certainly a game that exists. Cool concepts and visual, but the movement is floaty and slow, jumps are inconsistent, you slide sometimes and sink like a rock other times, the camera is a nightmare to deal with as this game feels like it's having an identity crisis between isometric and 2.5D. I don't wanna dook on a indie creator clearly trying stuff out for the first time, but this game needs a lot of polish and a better indicator of what you can and can't pin or climb, but after being killed in a cutscene by that GD spider thing, I said "Nope. I'm not playing the rest of the game like this." I tapped out early because I knew if this was what I could expect, I was not subjecting myself to more.
