Fate/EXTELLA

[h1]Fate/EXTELLA[/h1] After playing through the entirety of Fate/Stay Night, I was interested in the other Fate installments which were not directly linked to the Stay Night universe like Hollow Ataraxia. So naturally, Fate/EXTELLA was the first to spark my interest. At the beginning, I was a bit disappointed by the game: First off, the optimization of the game is quite questionable to say the least. Random crashes during gameplay, allergic reactions to full screen mode, slight changes to sound settings causing the whole sound to cut off for the whole of the gaming session... Secondly, the graphics were quite outdated. Anime-esque games most of the time hold up better relative to games which lean more towards photorealism due to their heavily stylized graphics, but this game had quite "plain" graphics if we compare it to other Anime-esque games of that time (for example, NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja STORM 4, which still looks good today and was released the same year). I recommend this game but honestly only for Fate/Extra fans looking to play this for the story, OR Fate fans who don't mind Dynasty Warriors/Musou games. But if you're looking for more Dynasty Warriors/Musou gaming, I'd look elsewhere. Glitches, hardware limitations at the time of the original release, and gameplay choices really hold this game back a lot. Pros -The story and characters are great! The best fate media let's characters backstories and legends influence their personality and motivations while letting their ideals clash. This game exemplifies that across it's story. -Music is pretty good! The main theme and the character themes that play during the noble phantasms fit the character's personalities and really hype up their attacks. -Character portraits and artwork looks lovely! Arco Wada draws the characters with great expressions, but you can tell she really likes some characters more than others though, which isn't bad thing. -Fanservice can be hit or miss. There's a few cute scenes you can have with your main servant as you increase your bond. I've never played a musou game or one where it's at least part of the gameplay so I was in for something new to me. Gameplay is pretty much a fifty/fifty between the musou style of battles, slashing through thousands of enemies and their bosses, and visual novel as you'll have to read a lot about what's going on with the story and their characters. You can skip through that, but highly recommended to not do it. Depending on the maps, a battle can take up to twenty to thirty minutes if you want to conquer the entire map. Graphics are fine for what they are, just noticed a few hiccups here and there like dress parts wobbling as if they're alive in a very few scenes, and one character's 3D model is a bit unlucky with the color saturation of different body parts which was hard to not look at and notice this. If you've played more Fate games, you'll recognize some of the music from other games. At first I thought a few tracks were just lazy ports but after a short while, I've noticed that it actually makes sense. Overall, music's very nice to listen to. Only Recommended if you like Fate\type moon series, otherwise its on of worse warrior game i ever play. i only play for the story and stop after finishing it. if you want good warrior game maybe try Fate/EXTELLA Link.
