About Fenix Box

WARNING! This 2D platformer tests how much of a hardcore gamer you are. You are not allowed to save your progress once you start playing. You only have 2 options: GO BIG OR GO HOME!

This is a hardcore minimalist platformer about a little black box with the power of the phoenix. If you die, you revive right away to keep trying. You can jump on platforms, and even fly through the level; but watch out for the dangerous red boxes. Help Fenix Box get to the blue box in every level and discover the Legend of the Cookie. Go ahead and try your best!

Features:

  • 90 Levels
  • Leaderboards for time and amount of deaths (the less, the better!)
  • No lives! Keep trying until you wish you were dead.
  • Easy controls for a harsh environment (gamepad recommended)

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Okay... So, what do I get?
A: In the best scenario you’ll get good old fashioned sweet glory.

Q: Did someone say leaderboards?
A: We did mention it did we? There are, for those frantic, crazy speedrunners!

Q: Why don’t game developers understand difficulty?!
A: Cuz some of us just want you to suffer.

Fenix Box is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere, although the platforming here is very poorly done, there's no limit to how many times you can jump, making this play more like Flappy Bird than a real platformer. This is not a good thing. There's no save function, the developer claims this is to make the game "difficult", but it's much more likely they just couldn't work out how to make save games work. Even though there's an example for this included with GameMaker Studio. It's not rocket science... in fact it's brutally easy, which is why there's so much GameMaker Studio amateur garbage polluting Steam. No excuses here. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The graphics here are some of the worst, laziest attempt at video game "art" I've ever seen. It's hard to suggest this game even has graphics. It's just untextured, basic pixel blocks and blobs, the kind that an infant child might be able to create in 5 minutes on MS Paint. It's clear the developer didn't even try to produce any rea…

Ever played Super Meat Boy? This is like that game, except this game is badly designed. All levels end up being the same: "advance in the right moment", and it ends up being frustrating because the rhythm of the red boxes is not regular and the game lags itself sometimes. It's like the game is hard, but only because it's badly done. I only bought it to be able to use the market anyway, but don't jump onto it if you expect "quality" or "hardcore games"

Good game, challenging but fair. A bit like getting over it, but the controls are very precise instead of a hindrance.

Funny, addictive and a little short. I was about to drop the game at some point... but when I remember that there is no "save point" I had to finish it. Simple game but sometimes challenging.
