About Finish Report
Finish Report is a science fiction dread-driven horror game from the one-man indie developer D4.
Thank you for your support!

You as a one-man investigation unit has to find out why did one of our space station with approximately 300 people go silent. You will need to use your shuttle's computer to carry out different tasks in order to solve the mystery. In addition to your computer, a remote controlled rover will help you to navigate through the corridors of the space station. You can use this rover as a "communication bridge" to download the station's log files once you find a terminal there. Your report will grow with each read log file. You can finish your report at any time you wish, but would that be enough to find out what really happened there?

In the far future mankind has already reached the stars for a long time. They build space ships, cities on different planets, space stations far in deep space. And yet, there is no sign of other lifeform apart from our own.
A space station far in deep space, right on the perimeter of known space goes silent. Days becoming weeks, weeks becoming months and there is still no answer from them. Long range sensors indicate that the station is still there and looks intact but it is hard to tell from this far.
You, as a one-man investigation team have been selected to travel there in stasis and find out what happened to them.
High Command demands a detailed report from you. Will you be able to carry out such an easy task?

This is a very decisive not recommend. I'm a fan of dread-driven horror, but this isn't that. I felt no dread other than at the thought of having to play more of this game. There were three moments I considered dropping this game. 1. When I booted it up and saw the prose. I'll attach an example of the first few words you see after starting a new game below. 2. When the game froze 10 or so minutes in, forcing me to hard reboot my computer. 3. When I died near the end and it told me "if you die once more you'll have to replay the whole game", which is in many ways off-putting. At this point I really did drop the game. It's not even a skill challenge, you only die if you don't understand the mechanics (like that you don't have to keep walking while you're being attacked, and if you open your eyes it's instant death). Overall though, the above issues could've been easily forgiven. The problem is that this game has nothing it does well. The story is predictable and poorly delivered, the drone controls give me a tremendously interesting view of the floor, the jamming mechanic is overused, and the horror is hard to feel when I know more or less exactly what I'm dealing with before I ent…3 found this helpful
The game has a nice thing going for it. Altho there was stuff that confused me Why not have the rover be moveable using wasd by attaching yourself to the screen or something? start game spoiler:
because the rover sometimes loses its videofeed when near certain places/areas, it made me think that i only had to close my eyes in those specific areas.
midgame spoiler:
Only later on when reading a discussion post did i realise that isnt the case whatsoever, but is tied to hearing whispers.
lategame spoiler:
I didnt notice that there were 2 agent's codes written on the ending panel. so i thought i had to go back to my first panel to find the code. altho thats probably on me i guess? Or maybe close the door behind the person after they get to the last room, so as to point out all you need is already there. i felt confused that i couldnt open the door to escape to the ship. maybe i missed something? nonetheless i was given an end credit so i guess i finished it?
Small bugs: moving (WASD) still allowed even when in terminal. when moving arrow up/down in terminal, it'll autocomplete your previous command but put the cursor at the b…2 found this helpful

An enjoyable short experience. The atmosphere is terrific, and the gameplay is pretty fun aside from some movement hitches. I had a little trouble figuring out that I could close my eyes though, and had to start over a few times. Wish it had another chapter or more development.
Cliffhanger ending.
This game desperately wants to be Iron Lung in space but it falls pretty flat in basically all respects. The command line interface is clunky and doesn't actually mimic a terminal in anything except font style. The rover controls are clunky and, as another reviewer noted, give an excellent view of the floor unless you stand 8 feet away from the screen. It is incredibly easy to flip your rover over, which the game is not actually prepared for as an upside down rover can see through walls and also cannot be reset in anyway. A game like this lives or dies on atmosphere and the sound design and drab grey everything color palette fail to generate any real atmosphere.
