About Silent Breach

In the distant future, humanity has spread across the unknown space, but along the way they discovered the harrowing and unexplainable known as the "Silent Zones". It's a phenomenon where a dense mist materializes out of nothing and engulfs an entire planet. The planet is then dubbed the Silent Zone. Only few things known so far are that once the planet is fully covered it starts emitting lethal radiation, no communication can be established and once entered no ship ever returned. You are Alex Raine, with a background in both navigation and astrophysics. In order to retrieve informative data you are assigned to guide "The Breacher", a remotely operated rover into one of these Silent Zones. You will be doing that from Titan Station's control room which is orbiting dangerously close to it. The Zones are spreading rapidly. Time is of the essence. Every second matters. Good luck.

You must remotely operate a space rover in to one of many silent zones to take photographs of key locations to retrieve crucial data.
Using the center panel you will be directing the movement of the rover in the direction of your choosing. It is a older model and sometimes has cooling mulfunctions, but a simple rover cooling reboot should do the trick. You also have a frequency catcher in case you pick up any unknown frequencys in your parameter. Make sure to use the map screen with coordinates so you dont get lost during your mission. If you by some chance encounter unknown organisms it is best advised to cancel any movement with the rover and stay still until the danger has cleared out.

- Heavily atmospheric making you paranoid that anything could be lurking without you even knowing
- Operate a remote space rover to take photographs of key locations to retrieve crucial data about the silent zone
- Based around the dread and fear of the cosmic unknown
- A short experience intended to be finished in under an hour

Alright. Silent Breach is one of those games that has a super memorable presentation and gets the balance between creepy and mysterious just right. I've also seen where people are basically calling this an Iron Lung-like, and I'd say that checks out. This is definitely a game that would be right at home in the Szymanski-verse and is clearly influenced by such. However, I'd argue that this game is actually more accessible than Iron Lung. I personally had a difficult time figuring out the navigation gameplay elements in Iron Lung, where this one just feels completely intuitive. Skill issue on my part? Undoubtedly, lol. But it still remains my personal impression that this game makes it easier on the player to get right into the action, such as it is. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3455797755 First off, this is a visual masterpiece in a lo-fi sort of way. You ever seen the computers from Alien/Aliens or the body cams in Aliens? The whole game has that aesthetic. It's grainy, mostly all green and white awesomeness. Very PS2 era style presentation. And within that, when you are rolling up on a point of interest, it can feel very much like the alien world…17 found this helpful
Copy of Iron Lung without the tension, mystery, and a very frustrating UI. You can't use the controls and see things you need to be watching at the same time. The maps you navigate are 3D worlds with barriers and elevations to deal with. Imagine playing an FPS where you have to use WASD as your movement, but can only press one key at a time, and you have to look at the keys when you want to press one, then look back at the screen, then back at the keys when you need to press another one. This feels like a good learning experience for the developer. To copy a simple game they enjoy, but this definitely shouldn't be sold as a finished product in my opinion. TL;DR It's a copy of Iron Lung without any of the things that made that game work.5 found this helpful
Silent Breach, developed and published by Shiver Eye Development, is a compact but conceptually intriguing entry into the realm of cosmic horror, choosing to build its identity around atmosphere and perspective rather than traditional gameplay complexity. Instead of placing players directly in danger, it casts them as a remote operator stationed safely above a corrupted world, tasked with guiding a rover into an environment consumed by an unexplained phenomenon. This distance becomes the foundation of the experience, creating a sense of unease not through direct confrontation, but through the unsettling realization that whatever lies below is beyond full comprehension or control. What sets the game apart immediately is its indirect approach to exploration. Rather than physically navigating a character through environments, players interact with the world through an interface, issuing commands and interpreting feedback through monitors, maps, and data readouts. This design choice reinforces the feeling of isolation and detachment, as every action is filtered through layers of technology. Even simple tasks like moving forward or scanning the surroundings carry tension, because the p…
Weird little game, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. I will come back to it one day and play it some more but for now Imma call it, Totally unique and interesting game. I got to an ending but I guess thats not the ending..... not sure.
I would recommend only if you are a sucker for dark spooky atmosphere and PSX visuals. The game itself has some questionable designs, like not being able to see where you are going at the same time you are trying to change directions, and only moving in a 2D plane but having sloped ground that you can sometimes get over and sometimes not. The gameplay itself is a little dry, but late at night, with headphones, it's a fun little jaunt.
I do not like this game. It takes elements from stuff like scavenger SV-4 and makes it not fun. makes it more of a chore to move around and navigate then it actually should be.
