About Forbidden City Journey
What is Forbidden City Journey?
This is a VR panoramic tour of the Forbidden City of China. Players can tour the Forbidden City and learn about its history through the game
The game has a kitten NPC, which will act as a guide to introduce players to various scenes in the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is full of fun to visit through the real picture, so that players can feel the solemnity and majesty of the Forbidden City without leaving home. There are also some mini games designed based on cultural and historical events, through which players can have a better understanding of the cultural knowledge of the Forbidden City. This will increase players' interest in the Forbidden City and even Chinese culture.

New Positive Review 22 August 2024 = Forbidden City Journey is a free to play VR experience. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded so-so, was understandable. The English voice overs are high pitched and fast, text to speech made. There is English textual descriptions. CONS: Does not work with Index controllers. Maybe try this for free, if you have HTC Vive or Oculus Quest. Old Negative Review 12 May 2023 = Forbidden City Journey is a free to play VR experience. It worked to a point on my Index system, looked ok, sounded ok, was understandable, played Nope. In the red lobby, able to bring up menu, has laser pointers, trigger makes a cosmetic reaction in the laser but does not do anything else. Says something about an X button, don't have X button on Index. CONS: No buttons mapped or reading to Index controller to trigger UI. Try this only if you have HMD other than Index till they fix this.4 found this helpful

Instead of being a game, "Forbidden City Journey" is a software application that shows off the Forbidden City in China, an only barely interactive virtual museum exhibition. The virtual gallery does include some mini-activities but nothing that would justify calling this a game. The developer didn't bother with any proper narration and used a laughably bad text-to-speech bot instead. What would the emperors of China say if their palace was demonstrated in such a lazy way? For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the compute…1 found this helpful
