Freud's Bones-the game

If you think Freud’s Bones might be inaccessible because you are not well-versed in psychoanalysis, that is not really the problem. I studied Freud and Jung for years. My issue with the game is not that it asks too much of the player, but that it often asks too little of its own material. [h2]The idea[/h2] I can see the intention behind it. There is a genuine attempt to [b]move beyond the usual pop-cultural caricatures[/b] of psychoanalysis, sexuality and the unconscious. The game also tries to bring those ideas into contact with more contemporary anxieties and issues, and to turn psychoanalytic language into something playable rather than merely decorative. That ambition is interesting. At times, it even works. [h2]Untapped Potential[/h2] What struck me most was the potential within the simulator itself: the possibility of letting the player choose what to interpret and how to approach another human being. The game could have pushed much further into the tension between a medicalizing approach and a humanizing one, between adhering to a school of thought and actually listening to the patient as a person. I honestly regret buying this. I struggled to finish it. It's boring and confusing and sorta bland.

This unique game is both a deep and unflinching look at Freud's innermost conflicts and a soul-searching, playable portrait of psychoanalysis itself... ambiguity, venality, doggedness, dependency all make their mark on the movement that captured the imagination of creative individuals the world over. Is the power of the unconscious so strong that it may drive even its discoverer into ruin? Will you be the force to find meaning and the will go on in a world that would persecute Freud for fatally wounding humankind's illusory fantasy of self-mastery? This game offers no easy solutions and no simple pleasures, because it deals with a subject matter that makes us subjects in the first place. If we are not the masters in our own houses, if our conscious agency is but a tiny morsel of control over powers much greater than us, then how can we hope to live as our best selves? My advice with this game is to allow yourself to fail. To register your displeasures with the game, and to pursue it to its end. It will, in some measure, leave you dissatisfied. I like the game but, although I bought the whole game it seems to allow me to play only the demo content. After solving the first case with Elsa it closes and shows the word DEMO on the upper right corner, then goes back to Freud´s room and nothing else happens. No way to proceed with the game. I have watched walkthroughs and a couple things should activate to be able to continue, but with mine that is where it stops, nothing else to do, as if it was the demo, though I bought the game. When I go to steam support they give several support contacts, and all of them take you to a site that simply does not exist. I played 2 hours already, but if noone is going to solve this issue I want my money back.

I for some reason expected some idle kinda thing going into this... This is NOT an easy game. I failed one of my patients, failed Freud himself, and it seems I also failed triggering some story bits? Very clever though. Thought provoking. Unique. I'm not smart enough for this, lol. But I still had fun!
