Not released in North America, play for the lore and nostalgia from Front Mission 3.
Front Mission 1st:Remake is a rough one for me. Realistically, I just can't recommend buying this games 4th release of the same game every few years. It's a fine port/remake... but I feel like a sucker for paying again for something I already own 2 copies of. I've been a long-time Front Mission player, having started with the original SNES. I like the series, but this game really hasn't aged all that well. Even in the same time period, we had Tactics Ogre, with far deeper tactics, army customization, and simply more engaging battle mechanics. It's neat looking at this as a historical relic, but it's not really a stand-out game anymore. The biggest problem is that the mechanics are extremely shallow and the game is poorly balanced. The first few missions are pure RNG. I'd walk into a stage, first turn, every shot goes into my body killing me immediately forcing me to rewatch the same unskipabble cutscene. There's no failing forward here, all XP is lost and you just try again. So you have to grind the arena for XP and money... only to now steamroll the game. There's nothing resembling what we consider Skills in modern TRPGs... but instead there are 7 randomly triggered pa…
Recommended with caveats. It's a good game and a great way to play a SFC game. Front Mission 1st is a RTS that combines itself with an RPG. The campaigns can get a little redundant but there are plenty of hidden missions and weapons that will keep you playing. My biggest issues are that the game would crash in later scenarios and the most annoying thing is sometimes an enemy would just stop in the middle of battle and commit no action. This basically freezes the game and requires you to restart the mission. Overall it's worth a play if you enjoy games from the SNES/SFC era and like RTS and RPG elements. I give Front Mission 1st a 3/5.
Only for the hardcore fans. Gameplay is very outdated. Short range weapons are broken. And the rng is quite unfun.
How can a pc remake not account for keyboard and mouse use? I cant deal with the horrible controls and UI making the experience truly unpleasant. I love front mission but this one isnt enjoyable due to the bad controls and user interface and lack of explanations or modifications to teh way controls work.
we want front mission 5 remake
