Fumiko!, developed and published by Fumiko Games, is a bold and surreal 3D platformer that ventures into the realm of digital consciousness and existential exploration. Set in a strange virtual network, the game follows the journey of an artificial intelligence named Fumiko as she awakens in a fragmented cyberspace and begins to search for meaning, identity, and freedom within an environment that constantly shifts between order and chaos. It’s a game that fuses abstract world design, ambient music, and introspective narrative fragments to create a meditative experience that feels as much like a philosophical art project as it does a traditional platformer. From its first moments, the player is enveloped in an atmosphere of mystery—a world where nothing is quite tangible, and every jump through its surreal landscapes feels like a metaphor for Fumiko’s awakening awareness. In terms of gameplay this is a fairly unique 3D platformer in that as you proceed it increasingly removes many of the limits found in other platformers. Double jumping is only the start, towards the end you can jump as much as you like. Same deal with limited "sprinting", or dashing in this case, as you approach the end you can simply dash as long as you like. Possibly as a consequence of this, the camera can go awry at times. Speaking of, by default the camera is set to auto-turn/auto-rotate (I forget the exact terms used) to stay behind the character. Personally I'd recommend disabling this (at least if you're playing with a controller) as otherwise you may find yourself fighting with the camera more than you'd like. Regardless, if you enjoy 3D platformers and exploration games, Fumiko's a great time. A fairly unique setting and…1 found this helpful
