"Gateway to the Kulikovo Field: The Battle of Yepifan" is a weird little Russian VR tech demo. The game centers on a 16th-century archer tasked with defending Russia against the Crimean army. Players solve puzzles, develop defensive strategies, and engage in tactical combat to repel the enemy and protect Muscovy. Most of the assets look flipped, and this is short enough it comes across as a student project rather than something designed and intended to have value as a game for gamers. It does work, though. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. On t…
