Got this as part of a bundle with dark scrolls and gunbrella. The former two were disappointments but this was actually a very good time. Incredibly short little metroidvania that is very satisfying to crunch through in a day or two. There are some annoying parts. I agree with other reviewers about 1 or 2 bosses being way more frustrating than the rest of the game (looking at you heater core) but the rest is a very nice well paced romp that packs a lot of variety for its 2-4 hour campaign. My only major gripe is the game's save system is unnecessarily minimalist. You save after every collectable and certain combat encounters which is good but it makes backtracking and finding secrets very annoying for the sections of the map where save points aren't as plentiful. It seems like the dev was very much aware of this as the vent area in which you are playing without the mech suit the majority of the time and can die in one hit has save points much closer to each other than other areas. The insult to injury about this system though is if you were hoping to get all the upgrades you have to do it before the final boss. You cannot beat the gane and go back. Your save is permanently stuc…
i was playing away from home on my steam deck(actually it was my phone with game native) and i got to the part when the game is like "this is the point of no return, if you want to 100% do it now" playing very casually i thought "ill just go forward without saving, yeah and get the 11% later when am home" now avoiding save points is ez but in this game the only way to heal is by saving so my new challenge was <complete the final level + final boss basically no hit with a barely functioning mobile controller> did it first try cuz this game isnt hard by any means, and my reward? lol watching the credits deletes your save!!!!!!! even if your last save was before the point of no return hahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A fun short metroidvania time
- literal pixel game can't maintain target 60fps on more-than-sufficient hardware without external DLLs - pointless epilepsy-inducing screen flashes with no way to disable them - palette options to mitigate said epilepsy hazards locked behind collectibles - almost constant button mashing with no settings to allow holding, except for a different weapon locked behind collectibles - £6.69 for a roughly 2.5 hour 100% experience; you are paying £3 per hour, get on a deep sale Perhaps you can overlook these flaws if you want something to pass the time on a rainy afternoon but i personally cannot recommend this EDIT: Sequence Break achievement requires near frame-perfect execution of inconsistent tech and does not respect the player's time. Can't recommend the achievement set if you like to achievement-hunt
i got lost after 15 minutes 3+/10(+bc of kitty)
Mice are my mortal enemies now
