[h1] A Competent Meh-troidvainia[/h1] It's not a bad game. But it's not an interesting game either and that's the crux of this game. Everything about it is 'Mid'. Well except for the exploration. It's startlingly linear for something that wants to be a Metroidvania. You never really feel like you're exploring, just following. The combat is a solide meh as well. Again, it doesn't seem to take any risks. and even the wrench gimmick basically just boils down to a 'Use' button with a fancy animation. At the same time it also manages to be obnoxious. The story some how manages to try too hard, and be lazy at the same time. It's trying to be taken seriously but honestly It's hard to care about the story or the characters. maybe because the game interrupts you so often with dialog and cutscenes which are thankfully skippable but still kill the pacing. This game is so mid I actually wish it were worse. At least then it would have something memorable. As it is. It's not a bad game. It's a well put together game, but it feels like something someone who doesn't like, or understand the appeal of metroidvanias would make after playing a few. No shade at the dev/pubs , as said…

A great Metroidvania with fluid controls, satisfying mechanics, and a suprisingly good story. The narrative can be downright grim at times which took me by surprise given this game's cute and colorful artstyle. I really enjoyed it.

Nice little meteroidvania. But be prepared to get lost ^_^

It's fun! Story leaves a little bit to be desired but it had me engaged. Characters were fun and had chemistry with each other too. I was impressed how it was able to fluidly transition from story to gameplay. The bosses were really fun, and I can see them being a bit tough. Wish it had multiple endings, as it feels like the perfect game for it, but alas. Absolutely give this one a shot if you love action adventure platformers! Absolutely don't regret playing it through to the end!

iconosclasts appears on the surface like a run-of-the-mill metroidvania, and in part it is that, but beneath the surface lies something special and interesting. a game with a message and something to say, a game whose writing, themeing, gameplay, and design are in concordance, a game that while isn't perfect manages to be something greater than the sum of its parts.
