About GoNNER

✦ AI summary

Blast through procedurally-generated levels in this brutal score-based platformer where death is constant but fair, filled with unlockable weapons, heads, and abilities to customize your playstyle. Join Ikk and Death on a surreal adventure to rescue a space whale named Sally, competing on daily challenges and leaderboards while uncovering secrets hidden throughout vibrant, stylish worlds.

Out of the blüe, we’ve updated our first IGF award-winning game! GoNNER BlüEBERRY EdiTION adds new weapons, heads, enemy types, a new challenge, some sweet, sweet, new visuals. And yes, there are also blüeberries.

Hop back into GoNNER if it’s been a while! And if you lose your head, it’s cool—we have plenty more where that came from.

GoNNER is a tough as hell score-based procedurally-generated platformer with roguelike elements. GoNNER is also a story about friendship between Ikk, Death, and a space whale named Sally.

You will die. A lot. This is by design, but it's not made to feel unfair. You'll eventually get the hang of GoNNER, so don't lose your head. But even if you do it's okay cause we have a lot of replacement heads you can use.

- DAILY CHALLENGES! Only playable once a day. Levels are randomly generated but in this mode everybody plays the same world and use an identical loadout. Everything resets at midnight (Swedish time, UTC+1). Can you crush your leaderboard foes?

- PROCEDURALLY GENERATED! Every time you play the game the levels will be different and present unique challenges and opportunities.

- UNLOCKS! You'll be able to choose from a variety of passive and active abilities at the beginning of each run so be sure to experiment with all of them and find the play style that best suits you

- SECRETS! Secret areas exist in the world of GoNNER, and these areas will get you different items that you can then always use from the beginning of each run. We're not going to tell you how you get to these areas or what the criteria is for even finding them because secrets, duh.

- LEADERBOARDS! Kill creatures, get combos, score points, and brag to your friends how much better you are than them.

- MUSIC! It's really freaking good.

Good luck.

Top five game audio design of all time -- it's truly special. The visuals are unique and excellent, and the narrative hints at itself in a mysterious but charming way. The gameplay is tight and rewards you with punchy audio/visual juice as you chain kills together. Super fun and highly recommended.

You can't shoot up, but most of the enemies fly above you. You barely jump too

Ugh...this game has some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechanics. Some enemies purposely move at awkward angles. Plus if enemies are too close, your weapon fires past them. Enemies are also bunched up in awkward groups meant to overwhelm your stiff linear movement. I mean I understand why. The game seems to use randomly generated rooms/areas which makes their layout lame and boring...so it tries to introduce challenge by making the enemies obnoxious and annoying. I regret buying it and letting it sit in my backlog...

The art style is cool, but that's about all I liked about this game. It's a pretty mid platform shooter, and I have many others that I would rather play. Instead of this game, I recommend 20XX, 30XX, Axiom Verge, Bleed, Bleed 2, Deadbolt, Super Time Force Ultra, and Vision Soft Reset, all of which offer so much more than just an interesting art style.

GoNNER is an interesting case. While I like the gameplay, the roguelike tag of the game is totally out of place. Here, you start the game with 3 items of your choosing: mask, weapon and backpack. You can choose any of the items you've previously gathered. The thing is, you can't get anything more, that's your whole loadout. Meaning you already are at your most powerful state at the start of the run. Keep that in mind. The gameplay is what I really liked about the game, it's simple, fast and visually pleasing. The combo system encourage aggressive and fast paced play, and the visuals coming from reaching high combos were brilliant, although for some people it will be distracting. The issue I have, is that reaching high combos wasn't as beneficial at it should be. Main thing you get from combo are glyphs, which you can spend in the shop. The visual direction of the game is great, I love the color play! The game is kinda difficult at start, but it gets easier as you go play more and more. But for me there's one core issue for me. As an example, in Hades, you pick one weapon at the start of the run, then play and buff it with different boons. Every weapon can become strong, encour…

Starting off I died to the first few enemies just from trying to jump on them so I didn't think I'd get very far with this game. I decided to push on with a guide and honestly had a blast learning the zones and movement after finding out about the secret scythe weapon. Don't mind the reviews claiming the DLC ruined the game as it adds a quite inoffensive extra zone that takes maybe 3 minutes to complete each run. For a roguelite I suppose it is questionable to allow you to choose your starting load out freely but it also made runs very consistent so I personally didn't mind as someone whose main goal was to to see if I could get all achievements. Having a head that nullifies the main (admittedly quite frustrating) gimmick is also something I'm a bit mixed on. The enemy death explosions can be pretty distracting and it's also pretty awkward how the combo system can permanently mess with the palette of the current run. Overall though the art and music is nice and I also found the difficulty to get all the achievements very fair and had a fun time. If you're looking for a roguelite with tons of replay value I wouldn't say GoNNER is that but it's nice having one for a change that i…
