Quite fun, but janky. This idea really flourishes in its sequel.

Grow Home is one of those rare games that embraces simplicity and transforms it into something memorable. Developed by Reflections, a Ubisoft Studio, and published by Infogrames and Atari, the game presents a refreshing departure from the high-stakes action and cinematic storytelling that dominate much of the industry. Instead, players step into the metallic feet of B.U.D., a Botanical Utility Droid sent on an important mission: gather the scattered crystals needed to help a gigantic alien plant flourish and ultimately save his home world. The premise is straightforward, but its execution is filled with charm, personality, and a surprisingly strong sense of adventure. At the center of the experience is the Star Plant, a towering organism that serves as both the game's objective and its most ingenious mechanic. Players guide its growth by steering its branches toward floating islands suspended throughout the sky. Each successful connection expands the plant higher into the atmosphere, creating a natural progression system that constantly encourages exploration. The Steam description emphasizes vertical traversal and unrestricted climbing, and Grow Home excels in delivering both. Ev…

Short goofy little game. The climbing feels kind of weird sometimes and very janky to control, which is bad as sometimes you need more precise movements for the game, but it felt fine whence i got used to it. The process of climbing up the plant was very fun and satisfying if not a bit tedious. But seeing the plant grow all the ways up is a very rewarding feeling. I'm not going to compare it to other climbing games as it really isn't one but it definitely leans on the side of immersion, though that really doesn't work very well with an open world game where you can get into many janky places. Also the art and music are both very nice and fit in perfectly. Overall good game that has some rough spots but is a good time. Also who made what stupid ram cow thing it is genuinely the stuff of nightmares. Oh plus its super cheap and absolutely worth the price.
