Loved playing Grow Home back in the day — the freedom to climb, grow the Star Plant, and explore the world made it really fun. Simple, charming, and relaxing; a game I still remember fondly.

The growing mechanics and sense of progression in this game is mind boggling. You don't realise how far you've climbed until you eventually look down or misstep and descend to the bottom. It feels like you've barely left the ground when suddenly you're a thousand metres up, continuing to ascend ever higher towards the goal. It's a well constructed, tight, 3D platformer with a unique twist and enjoyable all the way from root to flower. I recommend.

A short and sweet little game where you grow vines to explore sky islands and collect fragments to unlock upgrades along the way. It feels like one of a kind experience, and works well for what it is, but I wish controls were a bit smoother. Maneuvering can be a little frustrating, especially in low gravity sections later in the game. I also wish there were a bit more to explore, particularly more of the bigger sky islands.

Grow Home is short, simple, and much more fun than any other 'climbing' game I've played. I went in with the expectation that controlling each of BUDs hands individually would be painful and tedious, but I was instead surprised to find that the climbing mechanics were easy to get used to and very effective in terms of navigation. Simply holding W and pressing M1 M2 in quick succession is enough to scale almost any surface, and you can stop anywhere you need to by grabbing onto a nearby surface. I also appreciated the generous, optional checkpoints at regular intervals throughout the map. They're more prevalent towards the bottom, and become more spaced out as you get higher up. This coincides with the new abilities and mechanics you gain access to as you progress. The jetpack starts out as a minor bonus, but becomes increasingly more powerful as you find more crystals, eventually giving you infinite flight time which makes exploration very easy. There aren't any standout negatives I noticed, though I do have a few minor criticisms: - BUDs procedural animation can get a little bit buggy at times. This seemed to get worse as the game progressed, and by the end he was twitch…

I bought this for 12 dollars and it took me 12 years to be able to play it again and when I finished it this time it took me around 12 hours, I would go so far as to say I had a genuine spiritual experience, Ill eventually get the sequel. I brought the golden bird up to the ship it was cool.

Fun game if you like climbing.
