Gummy Jump

When she Jump on my Gummy and I Gummy Jump: This sucks. The music is way too intense and this game is just attempting to take hold of the popularity of the rage climber genre. I would have normally given this a thumbs up and said the same things, but this game is nothing. Everything is just free assets slapped together. Multiple difficulties is appreciated, but doesn't fix the overarching problem of unoriginality. There is no real reason to play this game. I don't want this to seem like I'm just hating on this game to hate on it, but the 11 minutes I spent playing this game is 10 minutes and 59 seconds more than I probably should have. 2/10. Playable, but still nothing impressive (or worth playing).

"Gummy Jump" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is an "infinite jumper" style platformer where the goal is to ascend a shaft by jumping on various small platforms, the intention was to make this a "rage" platformer, but you know the old adage, if a tree falls down in the forest and nobody is there to rage, did it really happen at all? I don't think that's how it goes, but you get the idea... nobody played this because it's just awful quality. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible.
