About GunHero

Fight your way through multiple environments filled with traps and obstacles, each more dangerous and deadly than the last. Shoot bullets and throw grenades at your enemies while releasing prisoners from their cages. You are the hero this evil-filled world needs.

GunHero is a 2D-action-platformer-shooter filled with handcrafted levels set in various environments, where each one contains its own unique dangers. Your task is simple: save the world from the evil Count Darkcape.
  • Shoot your way through enemy troops, pick up weapons from your dead foes, yield destruction with your grenades and become victorious with the help of your shield! But don't forget about the prisoners and hostages that desperately need your help!
  • Watch out for the deadly traps and obstacles! Spike balls are much harder to dodge than you'd think, and is there anything more dangerous than a huge blade? Well, maybe a spinning laser beam, or a missile launcher. You can travel on rotating and moving platforms, climb ladders or fly using the large propellers. Just don't get trapped on the roof of an elevator as death by getting crushed between an elevator and a wall is not a pleasant death.
  • Having trouble? Could the world maybe use a few heroes more? Just invite a few of your favorite friends over for some good old-fashioned couch co-op! Enemies won't stand a chance against you.

GunHero is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This is a comedy/action themed shooter with a tongue-in-cheek plot about the bad guy just being a bad guy so you have to fight him, breaking the fourth wall and all that kind of meta stuff. Which is almost amusing enough to make you smile, so it's a shame the rest of the game doesn't keep up. And really, does Steam need more 2D retro pixel amateur platformers? There's literally thousands of them, and outside of Terraria and Super Meat Boy, none of them are truly successful. GunHero certainly isn't, and it's easy to see why. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. To make matters worse, while lazy, low quality pixel "art" has been used, making the game look bad, many elements of the game aren't done with…

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…

It's the Super Meat Boy with co-op, it's the Broforce with parkour, great game with a campaign and workshop support. Made by one man also so that's cool, hope he makes more in the future

GunHero is a side-scrolling action platformer developed and published by Olli-Samuli Lehmus that embraces the spirit of old-school arcade shooters while adding enough modern conveniences to keep the experience enjoyable today. Rather than focusing on an elaborate storyline, the game places its attention squarely on fast-paced gameplay, challenging platforming, and satisfying combat. Players take on the role of a determined hero who must battle through dangerous territories to rescue prisoners and ultimately confront the villainous Count Darkcape. The premise is intentionally simple, allowing the game's mechanics and level design to carry the experience from beginning to end. The campaign is packed with over one hundred handcrafted stages spread across six distinct worlds, giving players a lengthy adventure filled with variety. Each area introduces new environmental hazards that constantly change the pace, from spinning blades and laser barriers to elevators, missile launchers, lava pits, trampolines, flame traps, and other deadly obstacles. Every level is carefully designed to test both reflexes and timing, encouraging players to observe their surroundings instead of rushing forwa…
